Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).

If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.

If you own a Nintendo Switch 2 and happen to be a massive fan of the 007 franchise, we’ve got some bad news for you. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), developer and publisher IO Interactive announced that 007 First Light has been delayed indefinitely for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

“007 First Light comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 27th, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer,” the announcement reads. While the game remains on track for its original release date on all other platforms, the Switch 2 version has been pushed back with no specific date in sight.

Developer and publisher IO Interactive announced that 007 First Light has been delayed indefinitely for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

However, the studio didn't provide a specific reason for the setback, simply stating they want to ensure quality for every platform. “We're excited to see players discovering James Bond's reimagined origin story, and we are looking forward to bringing you the best game experience possible across all platforms,” the post concludes.

The "Resident Evil Effect" on Switch 2?

This vague delay has naturally sparked concern among Switch 2 owners. Fans were quick to flock to the comments, worrying that the game might be struggling to run smoothly on Nintendo’s hardware. “That Switch 2 version gonna be 380p, huh…” one user replied.

Interestingly, some fans are even pointing the finger at Resident Evil Requiem! The theory is that Capcom’s latest title "raised the bar" so high for Switch 2 performance that other developers are now under immense pressure to avoid releasing a subpar port. One user even noted they feel Capcom is “the only 3rd party developer capable of releasing Switch 2 games day-and-date with other consoles,” a sentiment that can surely poke a few nerves at other studios.

We don’t know if all of that is true, but what we do know is that, for now, 007 First Light is still locked in for May 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As for the Nintendo Switch 2, the mission is officially on hold until further notice, agent.

As for what we can expect, the game will serve as an origin story for our beloved James Bond. The project features a star-studded cast, with Irish actor Patrick Gibson (from the TV series Dexter: Original Sin) taking on the lead role as 007 and the iconic Lenny Kravitz stepping in as one of the main villains.
