10 Best Bosses in Crimson Desert

There is no denying that Crimson Desert is one of the better RPGs to be released in the modern era of gaming, and there are plenty of reasons why. One of the reasons is because of its boss designs and the way the game handles combat.

JRPGs have some of the most iconic fights in gaming and while most are manageable, there are always a few in each game that give gamers chills.

Crimson Desert has over 70 bosses, with 28 of them appearing in the main story, and the majority of them appearing during side missions or from exploring the world. Some of these bosses are well-designed and have a cool theme that makes them stand out amongst the rest, but which ones are the best? Let's rank the best-designed bosses in the game.

10 Cubewalker Lithus

Strange, But Cool

Crimson Desert Boss Designs Cubewalker Lithus

Cubewalker Lithus is perhaps one of the more annoying bosses in the game, thanks to the way you need to defeat it. There are a few bosses that require you to attack a core to destroy them, but none of them look as cool as the Cubewalker.

The design of this boss is intimidating at first, and thanks to the small arena you fight it in, it feels even more daunting. Thankfully, you can use your abilities to take it down quickly if you don't mind running out of bounds.

Overall, Cubewalker Lithus is a decent boss with a unique style that makes it very well-designed. At least more so than many of the other bosses in this style.

9 Cassius Morten

So Much Blood

Crimson Desert Boss Designs Cassius

Cassius is fought in chapter 6, and he is a boss who leaves a lasting impression. With his boss arena being covered in blood, there are few arenas that look more menacing than this, making the design perfect for this challenging battle.

Everything about this boss is menacing, from his blood-red accented armor to the spiked mace he wields in battle. The tone is perfectly set for this experience, and it is made all the better when you see the blood fly from his weapon with each swing.

Combined with a dark overture that plays throughout the fight, there are few bosses that top Cassius Morten in the campaign and beyond.

8 Reed Devil

They're in the Reeds, Man

Crimson Desert Boss Designs Reed Devil

The fight against the Reed Devil is quite drawn out, but that makes it all the better. After this boss first appears, you must chase him down, and only after reaching the field of reeds can you fight him head-on.

Leading up to this point, the Reed Devil plays with you, giving you countless clones to rip apart. During the main fight, the Reed Devil is just as sinister as he sounds, disappearing and reappearing at will.

When the Reed Devil strikes, there are arcs of fire around his blade, adding to the overall essence of the fight. This is the first moment in Crimson Desert where the bosses truly feel unique.

7 Black Fang

Reminiscent of Another Series

Crimson Desert Boss Designs Black Fang

Do you miss the Dark Souls days of fighting Sif, or perhaps the days of fighting the Champion's Wolf in Dark Souls 3? Crimson Desert captures a bit of that magic by having you fight a demonic wolf called Black Fang.

This legendary wolf pops up during the Howls from the North Gate quest, and this relentless boss will not give you a moment to breathe. You track down the pack of wolves, take them out one by one, and then must fight the leader — a menacing black and red wolf with a twisted pelt.

The works of FromSoftware's composers deserve to be in a museum.

Being isolated in the woods while fighting this monster brings the atmosphere up, and you are treated to a cutscene of howling wolves when you finally slay this beast.

6 Crowcaller

Very Dramatic

Crimson Desert Boss Designs Crowcaller

Pearl Abyss did a fantastic job setting a tone for some specific bosses, and Crowcaller is one of those bosses. When you finally track him down, you are thrust into a large arena with a massive dead tree.

Crows fly all around, adding to the already spooky atmosphere, and cages hang from the limbs of the tree. The entire design sets a dark mood that other boss fights can't beat.

Not only this, but the way that you and Crowcaller maneuver around the arena during the cutscenes shows how intense this battle truly is. It is a battle that you won't soon forget.

5 Fortain the Cursed Knight

The Specters Are Awesome

Crimson Desert Boss Fortain

At first, the design of Fortain, The Cursed Knight, seems pretty basic. He is a larger enemy clad in plate armor that feels a bit more exquisite than other challengers you have faced.

However, things quickly change when you realize that Fortain is able to summon specters that will mess you up. He slashes with his sword, and a specter shoots you with multiple arrows.

When he charges, another specter slams down with a massive blade. While Fortain may appear to be basic, he is anything but, and the overall design of this boss fight is elevated as the fight continues.

4 Awakened Ludvig

Thor Without the Hammer

Crimson Desert Boss Ludvig

Now is when things start to get a bit elemental, and by a bit, we mean a lot. You enter the building to fight Ludvig and are immediately met by a man who can blast you with lightning.

Ludvig is basically Thor, but he doesn't need a hammer to strike you with heavenly thunder. At first, this boss is decent, and he will give you a few shocks, but that changes in the second phase of the fight.

During phase two, Ludvig begins slamming blades made of lightning, slashing the room apart, and being even more of a badass than he already was. It is easy to say that this fight had us feeling very intimidated.

3 Lava Myurdin

Burn You Alive

Crimson Desert Boss Myurdin

Let's continue talking about the elements by bringing in Lava Myurdin. The design of this fight is as fiery as the burning timbers surrounding the arena, making it one of the best in the game.

Myurdin lashes out at you with the hottest of flames, and it is easy to get overwhelmed by the fury. This man shows his anger by ripping the ground apart, calling forth the lava from deep within the ground.

As the fight progresses, the flames get hotter, and the arena becomes more engulfed by the flames. It sets a tone that is unparalleled by almost any other fight in the game, and it is incredibly satisfying when you take him down.

2 Antumbra's Sword

Get Ready to Parry

Crimson Desert Boss Antumbra's Sword

Antumbra's Sword can be found in the Sanctum of Absolution — a location you may end up accidentally finding early in the game, and when you do, you probably get killed immediately. This is the boss here, which is very difficult to defeat, but he is also more menacing than almost any other foe in the game.

Antumbra's Sword spawns, the sky slightly darkens, and an ominous green glow appears. This happens before a massive sword is slammed down upon you. While it may feel unfair, this fight is one of the best when you get it down.

Channel your inner Souls player and parry this monstrous boss. You will feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment each time you do, as the attacks are not easy to time. Everything about his boss's design is almost perfect.

1 Beloth the Darksworn

Lich King?

Crimson Desert Boss Beloth

Finally, we have come to Beloth the Darksworn — perhaps the most difficult boss in the entirety of Crimson Desert. Beloth awaits you in ruins, surrounded by shards of ice, sticking out of the ground like daggers.

You are welcomed by a cutscene of Beloth breaking free from his icy prison. Before you know it, you are covered in a thin layer of frost that makes you feel as though you are fighting in a blizzard.

A thick haze quickly disperses as the fight begins, and boy, is this a difficult fight. Despite its difficulty, this is one of the most well-designed boss fights in the game, with everything lining up perfectly, from the difficulty to the atmosphere and the effects. Everything is done with intention, and it shows.
