10 Best Path of Exile 2 Skills Introduced In Patch 0.4.

2 hours ago 1

As Path of Exile II continues to fill out its massive roster of characters and abilities, we were recently blessed with an epic assortment of Primal skills.

While these skills are largely focused on the brand-new Druid class, realistically, they can be used to great effect by any class with the right build. I’ve given most of these skills a shot, and let me tell you, there are some incredible abilities here!

Grinding Gear Games keeps pushing this gem to its limit, so let’s take a look at what they’ve been cooking and get these builds online!

I haven’t included in-built skills into this, like Maul and Shred, as they're part of the weapon and not individual Skill Gems.

10 Thunderstorm

Tear the Sky Asunder

Path Of Exile 2 Thunderstorm

Sorceress has been a pretty popular class right from the beginning of PoE 2, and even now, these mages are spell-slinging and shocking their foes right to the core. And, with the addition of Thunderstorm, they get yet another powerful spell to add to their arsenal.

Thunderstorm will cause a target to become drenched in rainwater. When a target is drenched, they are way more likely to be shocked by your lightning spells. When paired with something like Coursing Current, this can allow you to clear massive packs of enemies with ease, as your lightning chains between shocked foes.

Also, if you fancy giving the Plant Druid build a go, this rainstorm can even empower your plant-based attacks, too! Gotta love that versatility!

9 Savage Fury

A Whirlwind of Fang and Claw

Path Of Exile 2 Savage Fury

Hey, your attacks are looking a little slow there. Fancy a speed boost? Stupid question, I know.

For anyone with an extra 30 Spirit to spare, Savage Fury will grant you a bit of additional damage and the Onslaught buff, which boosts your movement speed and Skill Speed. While you do lose a bit of HP while using this skill, the benefits greatly outweigh this cost. A simple life-leech modifier will fix that right up.

Attack speed can be extremely important when trying to generate Ice Fragments. The faster you can shred, the more fragments you can detonate. Savage Fury is brilliant if you can weave it into those combos.

8 Entangle

Ensnared in Strangling Vines

Path Of Exile 2 Entangle Swirl

Remember that Plant Druid build I talked about earlier? Well, after a lot of experimentation, it turns out it’s actually pretty good.

This patch introduced so many spells that revolved around animal transformations that the new plant skills often get overlooked. However, this is because people weren’t aware of how to take advantage of them.

If you get yourself a strong Reaping Staff with some Physical damage modifiers, then grant your Entangle gems like Magnified Area and Pin, you can swarm the ground with tangling vines that’ll stop anyone from getting close to you. Pair this with Thrashing Vines for single-target damage, and you’ve got yourself a vicious gardener that’ll rival any top-tier build.

7 Furious Slam

The Ground Quakes Below

Path Of Exile 2 Bear Slam

This is probably the first skill you ever use when transforming into a molten fire bear, and it holds up all the way through the campaign, right into the endgame mapping stage.

Furious Slam sees you lift those mighty paws and smash them into the ground, dealing massive AoE damage to anyone caught in the vicinity. This can use your Rage to create even larger shockwaves and slow down your opponents, too.

Now, if you equip Support Gems, like Fist of War, that support slamming skills, you’ll become Ancestrally charged. With that power at your paws, nothing can stop you.

6 Cross Slash

Shred your Foes To Pieces

Path Of Exile 2 Wolf Slash

While I’ve never been a massive fan of the more combo-oriented gameplay in Path of Exile 2, Cross Slash eventually sold me on the idea.

If you’ve played a cold Wolf build, you’ll know what I mean here. Cross Slash is the final piece of a crazy combo, involving Freezing Marks, shredding Ice Fragments, and controlled explosive power.

When you build up that attack speed to unreal levels, shred your foes like a mad fiend, and blow up the shards of ice all at once, the amount of satisfaction you gain is pretty unreal! It takes a good while to get used to this combo, but once you have it down, those bosses with millions of HP won’t stand a chance.

5 Flame Breath

Bathe them in Flames

Path Of Exile 2 Wyvern Breath

Becoming a flying fire-breathing Wyvern? Where do I sign? This is one of the final skills you unlock while playing the Wyvern, and oh boy, does it impress.

Not only is this skill pretty visually impressive, but the damage it deals is absolutely nuts. However, if you want to take full advantage of this awesome power, you need to do a little set-up first.

See Flame Breath requires you to use Power Charges to get its full effect, and you’ll be expending rage while channelling it. So first, you’ll need to use Rend and Devour to build up charges and then expend them all at once in a brilliant display of electrifying destruction.

4 Eternal Rage

Anger Bubbles Up From Within

Path Of Exile 2 Fury

Eternal Rage is a very simple Spirit skill, and one that you unlock pretty late, for the hefty price of 100 Spirit. So just why is this worth it?

Well, a lot of the talisman-wielding builds require you to have a lot of rage to make the most of them. And that means using other skills to build up stacks. So, how about we skip that step and just have a passive skill that constantly builds up rage for us? Yep, that’s Eternal Rage.

You can really use this on any of the beast transformation builds, or really any physically attacking character that benefits from rage. You can equip it, and you don’t even have to think about it. That’s my kind of skill!

3 Pounce

They'll Never See You Coming

Path Of Exile 2 Pounce

You might be thinking, Why on earth is Pounce near the top of this list? It’s not really a damage dealer, or the final part of a combo, or even a buff.

But no, pounce is strong because it doesn’t really fit into any strict category. In fact, you can play this on any build that needs a bit of gap-closing or movement speed. If you’re struggling to get around, Pounce is a fantastic initiator.

For those struggling to pick a class in Path of Exile II, this list will show you some of the most powerful classes to play and why to pick them.

And of course, that’s before we consider that you can socket Mark skill gems into it as well. When paired with Freezing Mark, Pounce starts one of the strongest Wolf combos in the game, which ends with the previously mentioned Cross Slash.

2 Walking Calamity

Set the Heavens Ablaze

Path Of Exile 2 Calamity

The earth erupts beneath your paws, and the skies tear open, unleashing destruction across the land.

If your Fire Bear build felt like it was lacking a bit of extra flame, then how about some meteors? Sounds good, right? Honestly, while the bear builds were pretty good before this, Walking Calamity turns everything up a notch, skyrocketing your damage potential.

To trigger this skill, you must first build up Glory. But once activated, you gain a massive amount of extra fire damage, and your rage will automatically regenerate. Not only this, but Meteors will rain down upon the surrounding ground, dealing huge fire damage to anything close by.

This skill makes you feel like a walking vehicle of total annihilation, and once you’ve started, you won’t ever want it to stop.

1 Lunar Blessing

A Gift from Above, Cold and Deadly

Path Of Exile 2 Wolf Blessing

The final Tier 13 Primal Skill, and honestly, my favourite new skill of the bunch. There's a reason this skill is number 1, and for a similar reason to Pounce.

Not only does this skill give you bonus cold damage, but if you’re in wolf form, you’ll call down moonbeams to strike your enemies.

While this is all very cool, the most interesting thing about this is how versatile it is. You don’t have to be a wolf to benefit hugely from this. In fact, even the Fire Bear builds will incorporate this into their builds. Remember, it’s EXTRA cold damage, which stacks on top of your fire damage.

So you can build up your Rage to the max, apply Lunar Blessing for Max cast time, then use your Walking Calamity to boost your power even further. When a skill can be used to great effect on multiple different builds, it always gets my seal of approval!
