I’m sure we’ve all experienced it. That special run in Slay The Spire 2, where everything seems to click, and enemies fall as though they were made from sand.
Maybe you just got lucky with some good cards, or perhaps your synergies just came online superfast. But the feeling of speeding through the spire without having to deliberate or think through every possibility is awesome.

These cards are some you’ve almost definitely seen before. They aren’t the most powerful or most consistent cards in the game. However, when you play them with the right support, they can absolutely break the game and turn the Spire into a total cakewalk! Let’s take a look!
10 End of Days
Prepare For Annihilation
While the Doom archetype certainly isn’t the optimal way to play Necrobinder, there are certain cards you can take, even if you’re not running any other Doom support.
End of Days is one of these. If you ever see End of Days, especially in Act 1, you might as well pick it up, just because of how ridiculously strong it is. End of Days applies 29 Doom to all enemies and then instantly kills them if it meets the HP threshold.
Not only does it instantly solve many multi-fights like Eels, Roaches, Books, and the annoying millipede Elite, but it can also be a great finisher as it ignores the “Start of the Turn” rule for Doom.
9 Voltaic
Lightning from the Heavens
Voltaic is one of those cards that, if you don’t have any support for it, is essentially just a curse, bricking up your deck.
However, under the right circumstances, this card can get absolutely crazy and wipe out bosses in a single turn. I’m sure you’ve all seen those videos where someone gets 500+ charges on his card and wipes out Test Subject when it’s gone Intangible. It’s pretty ridiculous, but also very satisfying to watch.
All you need to bring this card online are a few lightning cards, like Ball Lightning and Tempest. Then, if you can play this card a couple of times, it’ll support itself. Easier said than done, but when it works… Chef’s Kiss!
This card has to be nerfed from 2 energy to 3, because it was too powerful.
8 Calculated Gamble
Time to Risk it All
Silent is arguably the most powerful character in Slay the Spire 2, and honestly, in my opinion, it’s not even close. If you’re looking for not only power but also consistency, the Sly archetype is just for you.
With Sly, the energy cost of the cards doesn’t matter all that much because, chances are, you’re going to be playing them for free when you discard them. Calculated Gamble is one of the easiest ways to achieve this level of reliability.
With this, you can easily start adding cards like Reflex and Tactician into your deck, meaning that even when you discard your entire hand, you’ll get even more material and energy than before to keep those turns going on for longer and longer.
7 Hang
Big Numbers for Big Wins
Ever taken Hang before? If you’ve ever seen this at the beginning of a run, then honestly, you’re in for a great time.
Hang is another card that’s pretty situational, and can only achieve true power if you get lucky with some good support. Hang doubles in power every time it’s used on an enemy, so all you need is a way to duplicate it.
You can use anything from Pael’s Clone relic to Dolly’s Mirror or even Transfigure, giving it Replay. You only need to use Hang a couple of times before it just becomes ridiculous, allowing you to deal 100s of damage with a single use. Paired with Vulnerable, everything will fall before you!
6 Hellraiser
Strike, Strike, Strike Until the Battle is Won
Hellraiser is a really fun card to use. As soon as you use this Power, every single time you draw a card containing the word strike, it’ll automatically be played against a random enemy.
Regular strikes are the last thing you want to play with this card. The thing is, when the strike is played, you won’t draw another card, so you either want to be playing strikes that cost a lot, so they’re played for free, like Perfected Strike, or even better, strikes that give you a draw, like Pommel Strike.

Slay the Spire 2: Best Ironclad Build
Judge your successes by the sacrifices made to achieve them.
Simply by adding a few pommel strikes to your deck, you easily create a new draw engine that allows you to output easy damage and draw new cards. Exhausting cards and thinning your deck can allow you to go infinite pretty easily!
5 Particle Wall
They'll Never Get Past This
A Regentwithout stars is no regent at all! If you’ve played Regent enough, you’ll soon start to realise that finding a consistent way to generate stars is one of the most important parts of making him work as a character.
Once you activate your star engine, whether it be through Genesis, Sealed Throne, Shining Strike, or simple cards like Glow, Particle Wall becomes a ridiculously powerful card. Upgraded, this card gives you 2 block for just 2 stars. This will help you immensely against those big 40+ attacks that happen pretty frequently in Act 3.
What’s more is that this card costs 0 energy, meaning you can have your entire turn beforehand and simply use up any stars you have at the end.
4 Knife Trap
Go, My Trusty Shivs
While the Shiv build isn’t the most consistent way to play Silent, that doesn’t mean it can’t be absolutely cracked under the right circumstances. Knife Trap is one of the cards that makes this build go crazy.
Knife Trap will play every single shiv that is currently in your exhaust pile on the enemy. By itself, it’s good but perhaps not broken, right? But remember, these attacks proc every single bonus effect you get from playing cards. For example, you’ll also get bonuses from Afterimage, Envenom and Serpent Form or even from relics like Kunai and Ornamental Fan, among others.
All you need are a couple of Shiv cards, like Leading Strike and Blade Dance, to get this powerhouse going.
3 Void Form
When you Stare into the Void, the Void Stares Back
This is the newest “Form” card, the powerful 3-cost game-changer that, while difficult to play, often transforms your character, giving them ridiculous buffs.
Void Form allows you to play the first 2 cards for free at the start of every single turn. While this does immediately end your turn, it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
The most broken part of this card is that it lets you play ANY card for free, including cards that require a star cost! Were you struggling to play cards like Comet, Seven Stars or Decisions Decisions? Worry no more, because now you don’t even need to worry about star generation. While this card may brick your deck early on, it can be a crazy powerful late-game pick-up!
3 Replay, Jeremy? 3? That's Insane!
If you’ve noticed, colourless cards are a lot more powerful than they were in Slay the Spire, meaning it’s often worth picking them up when you see them during events or even in the shop.
One of the most popular of these is the new Hidden Gem card. When you play this, it adds 2(3) replay to a random card in your draw pile. Even basic cards being played an extra few times for no extra energy is super strong. Now, if you manage to land on a powerful core card, for example, anything listed in the above entries, you’ll basically win that combat hands down.
The best thing is, this card, while rare, is available to every single character. Even if you hit a regular strike or defend, it could still save your hide in a sticky situation. Hidden Gem is a must pick, every time!
1 Offering / Adrenaline / Big Bang / Neurosurge / Modded
The Best Things in Life are Free
I honestly wanted to add every single one of these cards as a separate entry, but it would have clogged up the list. Instead, here they all are, grouped together.
If you’ve had a taste of what these cards bring to a deck, I’m sure you’ll already understand why these cards are up here. These cards are all 0-cost and provide you with resources that extend your turns and allow you to play bigger and more powerful cards.
Whether it’s free energy, extra cards, orb slots, or Forge, there’s really no reason you shouldn’t pick up these cards when you see them. Not only will it make your drawing experience smoother, but it’ll also allow you to take less damage by shrinking the amount of turns your opponent has, or allowing you to block more.
Now, if you manage to get multiple of these, or even add replay with cards like Hidden Gem, you’ll start entering into broken-build territory, allowing you to play and cycle through your entire deck in a single turn. These cards feel great to play, and honestly, they break the game in the best way!
