Dark Souls is known for a few things, but what it is most known for is its difficulty. While normal enemies can be tough, the true difficulty of Dark Souls lies with its bosses. Well, most of its bosses.
There are numerous bosses found throughout the franchise that you can easily defeat with little effort. Stand in the correct spot, and the boss will ignore you. Use a specific spell, and the boss's health bar will melt.
10 Worst Multi-Phase Soulsborne Bosses
Not every Soulsborne boss can be a hit and those with multiple phases make us dread the next playthrough
Some of the most iconic bosses that you might have had difficulty defeating can be easily cheesed, trivializing their fights and turning them into complete pushovers.
10 Taurus Demon
Bridge Jump
After you escape the asylum in Dark Souls, you will most likely find your way to Undeadburg. Here, you face off against your first major roadblock: the Taurus Demon.
The Taurus Demon isn't the most difficult boss in the game, but for new players, it can be rather daunting. After all, a giant demon just appeared on a bridge. Luckily, you can bait him off the same bridge he spawns on.
To do this, lure the demon over to the broken part of the bridge, dodge its attack, and then guard as you walk into it while its back is to the broken bridge segment. This will bait the Taurus Demon into jumping off the bridge to its death, and you don't even need to swing your weapon.
9 Bell Gargoyles
Freeze Its AI
You have made your way across Undeadburg, climbed to the rooftops, and are ready to ring the first Bell of Awakening. Unfortunately, a gargoyle blocks your path. After it reaches half health, a second gargoyle appears. That hardly seems fair, so let's fix that.
To cheese the Bell Gargoyles, lure an enemy up to the boss's fog wall. From here, place your back against the fog wall, wait for the enemy to attack, and then parry and a bare-hand riposte. If done correctly, you will be pushed slightly into the boss arena, and the boss's health bar will appear.
Now, run back to a bonfire, rest, and return to the boss arena. The first of the gargoyles will be frozen solid, allowing you to beat up its defenseless body. You still need to worry about the second gargoyle, but it only has half health and isn't much of a threat.
8 Capra Demon
Get Your Dung Pies
There is a second demon waiting for you in Lower Undeadburg, and it is the Capra Demon. What makes this fight tricky is that the demon is in a small arena and has two dog enemies with it. Luckily, you don't even need to enter the arena to defeat this boss.
Start by going to the merchant in the waterways leading back from Undeadburg and purchasing Dung Pies and Blooming Purple Moss. You will need a lot of both, so be prepared to spend the souls.
With these in hand, equip them to your hotbar, stand by the arch outside the Capra Demon boss arena, and throw Dung Pies into the arena. Using this method, you can poison the Capra Demon and watch its health steadily whittle away.
7 Chaos Witch Quelaag
Arrows, Man-Eater, or Halberd
Quelaag stands as another formidable foe for early-game players in Dark Souls. Her fire is no joke, and she can be difficult to dodge. Luckily, you can cheese her in not one, not two, but three different ways.
First, you can summon Maneater Mildred, who is able to solo Quelaag, allowing you to stand on the side of the arena and watch the fight play out. For the other two methods, it is important to note that hitting Quelaag's human body stuns her.
10 Most Iconic Skill-Check Souls Bosses, Ranked
It was all going great until these guys showed up.
Second, you can use a halberd, perform consistent overhead swings that hit Quelaag's human body, and stun her into submission. Finally, if you want to be truly diabolical, you can hop onto the side of the arena and pelt Quelaag's human body with arrows until she is defeated. Why was she a threat again?
6 Iron Golem
Topple Him
The Iron Golem is a very daunting foe. He towers above you on the wall of Sen's Fortress, and he does not go down easily. That is, unless you know how to make him topple from the bridge.
Unfortunately, you will need to attack the boss for this cheese to work. Lure the Iron Golem to the back of the boss arena, where there is a thin wall. Get the boss to attack you while standing perpendicular to the bridge.
Now, use the Great Combustion spell to knock him down. When the boss gets stunned, he should fall backwards off the wall and fall to his death. You can also topple him with weapons, but it will take longer.
5 Gwyndolin
The Bow Returns
Gwyndolin isn't the most difficult in Dark Souls, but they can be rather annoying, as the arrows they shoot and magic they cast can easily kill you if you aren't careful. The fight is mostly a drag since you have to consistently chase after them.
If you want to trivialize this fight, start by grabbing the Hawk Ring from behind the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo. On top of this, grab the longbow and a bunch of poison arrows.
With all these items at the ready, head into the boss arena, but don't charge Gwyndolin. Instead, slowly walk forward, aim up with your bow, and shoot Gwyndolin from afar. They won't shoot arrows back at you, and you can use poison to chip away at their health.
4 Sif
Outside the Arena
We don't take any solace in needing to take down Sif, as the wolf is a dear friend, but it is necessary to progress through the game. Sif can prove to be tough, as the wolf swings around a large sword that can easily throw you.
Cheesing this fight is very simple, and it can be done with the same items used in the Gwyndolin cheese. Grab the Hawk Ring, a longbow, and some Poison Arrows. Head to the boss arena, enter, and then quit the game.
10 Best Survival Games With Soulslike Elements
Survival games can be tough, but these best survival games test even the most experienced survivalist with their Soulslike elements.
Loading back in will place you outside the arena, but Sif will be waiting for you now. To the left of the door fog wall, there is a pile of rubble. Jump on this rubble, walk up, and you will be able to see Sif. From here, keep shooting them with arrows until they succumb to your poison.
3 Stray Demon
Magic Helps
The Stray Demon isn't a necessary fight in Dark Souls, but it is one that many return to the Undead Asylum to complete anyway. This version of the demon can be a bit more annoying thanks to a smaller arena full of pillars, and the boss using magic.
Luckily, you can easily cheese this boss with magic. Grab the spells Fall Control and Hidden Body. You will also want the Oolacile Ivory Catalyst. You will also want to grab some Dung Pies and Blooming Purple Moss.
Fall into the arena with Fall Control and Hidden Body active to not get hurt and to avoid detection. Roll into the corner of the arena, and then pelt the Stray Demon with Dung Pies. Let the toxic run its course, poison the boss again, and it will die without ever knowing you were there.
2 Seath the Scaleless
Barbequed Dragon
Seath is yet another one of the major roadblocks in Dark Souls. This giant dragon needs to be defeated, and it can be done by burning it alive. That's right, it is time for some pyromancy.
To easily cheese Seath the Scaless, grab a Pyromancy Flame and the Fire Surge spell. Make sure you level up the Pyromancy Flame before the boss fight. You will also want the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring and Power Within.
Use Power Within before entering the boss arena. When you enter, run around Seath, destroy the crystal, and then run up to him and use Fire Surge. His health bar will melt incredibly fast, making the fight last around 10 seconds. You can make this faster with the Red Tearstone Ring as well.
1 Ornstein and Smough
The Power Duo
Perhaps the most well-known boss in all of Dark Souls, Ornstein and Smough are the power duo that blocks your path in Anor Londo. The pair is known for being quite difficult, as they attack you together, and one of them absorbs the power of the one you defeat first.
Luckily, there is a means of cheesing this boss if you are having trouble dealing with it. Start by clearing out the enemies in front of the boss arena. After this, lure the silver knight in the room over to the fog wall. From here, parry the knight with your back against the fog wall, and then bare-hand riposte.
If done correctly, the cutscene for the boss fight will play, and you will still be outside the boss arena. Take out the knight, and wait for Ornstein and Smough to start attacking the fog wall. From here, you can throw black firebombs at the fog wall to kill them.
12 Hardest Final Bosses of All Time
