MECCHA CHAMELEON is not the first hide-and-seek game on the market, but it has managed to catch the attention of thousands, as its unique painting mechanic stands out.
Instead of hiding normally, you get to paint yourself into your environment, making things a bit more difficult. It is a unique take on a classic game genre, and it makes it that much more fun to play.
50 Best Indie Games of All Time
Forget blockbuster AAA games! We want some plucky little indies!
If you have found yourself going back to MECCHA CHAMELEON over and over again, you might want to check out some of these other titles that offer the same type of hide-and-seek action, but in a different way.
10 Midnight Murder Club
Hide and Shoot in the Dark
Midnight Murder Club is a very fun title created by Velan Studios, and it is designed to give you a crazy shooter experience inside a massive mansion. You and your friends enter a mansion, each armed with a pistol. The catch is that everything is pitch black, making it a large game of hide-and-seek where the objective is to find and kill each other.
You have a flashlight that you can use to find your way, and you will need it, as it is impossible to see without it. Of course, using this flashlight will help others see you as well.
To add to the chaos, there are various game mode modifiers that allow you to change how the game is played. Some cards add the ability to shoot through walls, and others allow you to shrink. Some even cause loud jazz music to play when you shoot your pistol.
9 Screencheat
Invisibility
Have you ever been in a fight with a friend or sibling while playing a local PvP game and been accused of screencheating or screenpeaking? Well, the game Screencheat requires you to do this.
Screencheat is like a big game of hide-and-seek, but the catch is that you are all shooters who are invisible. Just looking at your screen will not help you find anyone. That is why everyone else's screens appear as well.
You are meant to look at the other screens that appear as split-screen style on your own to determine where each player is and take them out. It definitely puts a new spin on the shooter genre and gives it that hide-and-seek feeling.
8 Among Us
Among Us became a massive hit a few years back, and there are plenty of people who still play it to this day, and for good reason. It is a social deduction game where the killer needs to blend in, take out their crewmates, and then make everyone believe it was someone else.
While it is not necessarily a hide-and-seek title, the game shares some similarities with the genre, where the killer needs to remain hidden and not be sussed out by the other crewmates.
Among Us will definitely keep you on your toes, as you never know which one of your friends you can trust. You must do your best to complete tasks and hopefully not be killed in the process.
7 Midnight Ghost Hunt
Possession
Midnight Ghost Hunt is a title that gets extremely chaotic very quickly, and it is meant to, as you and your friends take turns playing as ghosts and hunters. Those who are playing as the ghosts must fly around the map and inhabit seemingly harmless objects.
As a ghost, you can use telekinetic abilities to throw objects at the hunters, confusing them and throwing them off your scent. You can even masquerade as a fake hunter to really mess with your friends.
The hunters have a simple job. They must track down all the ghosts before the clock strikes midnight, and they have a bunch of tech to help them accomplish their task, such as radars, traps, and more.
6 Run Prop, Run
Puropu Pursuit
If you want another hide-and-seek title to play but don't feel like spending money, you can get Run Prop, Run, also known as Puropu Pursuit. This is another game where you can hide as props to escape your would-be killers.
The game offers a very cartoony aesthetic, which is full of fun and whimsy. Many of the props even feature cartoon eyes, making them even more amusing.
Instead of being killed, when a prop is found, they are instead changed into a hunter to track down the remaining props hidden around the map. There are additional items you can purchase, but the experience is free and worth a look.
5 Peekaboo
Vibrant Prop Hunt
Peekaboo tries to mimic that classic prop hunt experience, where one team of players is the props and the other is the hunters. The only real twist on the matter is that the maps are fairly vibrant, which can be confusing to the senses, helping props blend in a bit more.
Peekaboo uses low-poly textures, giving it a charming cartoon aesthetic. The prop team has the simple job of finding an item to hide, changing into it, and blending into their environment.
Meanwhile, the hunters are coming to track them down. Adapting to the physical properties of the objects you hide can be a bit jarring, as you will often roll around, adding to the game's amusing nature.

Hide in Plain Sight is a hide-and-seek style game where, instead of hiding as an object or painting yourself into your environment, you stand around in plain sight. Each map is full of AI characters with different behavioral patterns.
You and your friends are dropped into the middle of these characters and must blend in by acting like you belong. Meanwhile, the others are trying to figure out who the fake is.
There are different modes where you must punch other characters to suss out who the other players are, and one where you need to shoot characters that stand out.
12 Best Cozy Games with Lots of Collectibles
Cozy games are great, but cozy games with endless things to collect? Even better. From feathers to fish, these are the ultimate collection-heavy games
3 Witch It
Magical Prop Hunt
Are you in the mood for things to get witchy and a little bit magical? Well, Witch It is another hide-and-seek game where you can hide as props to fool crafty hunters.
Those who are hiding play as witches who are able to transform into items around their environment. The trick here is that witches also have spells, so if you get caught, you can fly away, disorient the hunters, and cast spells to distract them.
The hunting team has access to various tools and abilities that will help them detect nearby witches and put a stop to their nasty behavior. You can even use items to slow the witches down, making them easier to catch.
2 Garry's Mod
The Classic
Garry's Mod is an absolute classic. Developed by Facepunch Studios and published by Valve all the way back in 2004, it offers a large variety of games, but one of the most popular is Prop Hunt.
The Prop Hunt game mode has since made a resurgence in other titles like Call of Duty, but nothing beats the original. The game mode allows you to hide as a prop in your surroundings, letting you blend in and fool the hunter.
It offers the same amount of heart-pounding intensity as MECCHA CHAMELEON, but in a different format, and if you are caught, you have a greater chance of trying to run away.

Mimicry! is another title where you blend into your environment by becoming it, but this time, you are a mimic. Your job as a mimic is to turn into objects, then eat your surroundings to satisfy your hunger.
If you fail to eat, your stomach will rumble, alerting the hunters. Of course, you also run the risk of eating your environment as it makes things change.
On the other side, the hunters are meant to track down and exterminate the mimics. The best part is that you get to use fire to burn them out.
