It's been a long while since we were handed a chapter of Deltarune by itself, hasn't it? We really were spoiled with Chapters 3 and 4 coming out together. Tenna's TV special for our attention was the perfect double-feature with the weight of the prophecy throughout Chapter 4. But even with Chapter 5 being released on its own, there are still plenty of blink-and-you'll-miss-it things that make the adventure worth coming back to after the Flower Man's been defeated.

Not everything on this list will be a jaw-dropping secret or anything, but fun details you might have missed or chosen different options for in your playthrough. It's always fun to poke around in a JRPG like Deltarune!

10 The Heart Panel in the Garden

I Watered Everything So You Don't Have To

A secret Heart puzzle in Deltarune Chapter 5

Before you meet Seth and Aqua for the first time, there's a room where you can water panels that you can't see very well in the dark. While searching for them, you can water a bunch of other plants on the edges of a few paths. To the far left at the top of the room is a gigantic patch of grass you can water.

Watering it will reveal a heart shape! In the middle is a chest containing a RedRibbon, a nice little thank you for the trouble. When I discovered this, I was initially aiming to water the whole map to see if something would happen, but I either missed a few spaces, or it's just nothing. So, here. Have the one secret I found and don't bother walking around such a huge room for nothing else. Don't be like me, because at least I technically got paid to try!

9 Jockington's Before-Beard Dialogue

Funny and Terrifying No Matter How You Handle It

Noelle talking to Jockington about how popular he is in Deltarune Chapter 5

One of the more shocking things that happened in Chapter 5 was that Jockington grew the beard. Only real prophecy believers will understand the relevance of that. He specifically grows it after you vote for the Festival King and Queen and you leave the area and come back. He's sort of the first thing you see when you come back, because he's new, but he won't grow his beard right away.

Depending on how much you care, you have a small window to get some dialogue from him about how much he wants to grow facial hair. He'll grow the beard right after. I'll be honest and admit that when he showed up, I just went about my business and walked past. When I did, the whip sound effect played, and his beard had grown without me talking to him. I had to race against the clock on another playthrough to notice he had dialogue. It was hilarious to just have a whip crack out of nowhere, but now, the beard cannot be undone.

8 Ralsei and Flowery's Stats

It Pays to Check the Party Now and Then

Ralsei's Stats in Deltarune Chapter 5

Everything about Ralsei and Flowery's feud was interesting to watch. The nice fluffy boy we've known for the last four chapters finally had a reason to bloom beyond being nice, and gained a bit of an entertaining attitude.

One detail that you can seriously breeze past is that when Flowery joins the party for the very brief time that he does, you can open the party menu and see his stats. He has 99 in everything possible, and his weapon is his WinningSmile. At the same time, once Ralsei gets sassy with Flowery and company, you can look at his stats to find that his Kindness stat is completely gone. He's that petty apparently! I missed this on my first time through, so take it from me and check this the instant you can for a sensible chuckle or two.

7 Giving Tenna Away With Noelle Around

Tenna's Not the Only One Who Misses TV Time

Kris making a choice on giving Tenna to the glamorous voice in Deltarune Chapter 5

I already know that I'm in the minority when I say that I gave Tenna away as soon as possible in my main file. I just wanted him to be happy, and being with Mettaton is definitely the best outcome for both of them. He pretty much begs for you to find a house for him pronto anyway. If you decide to keep him around for Chapter 5, though, you get unique dialogue if you give him away during the festival. Nothing really changes with Tenna's adoption, but Noelle talks about it after it happens.

She's shocked to see Kris giving away the old family TV, almost like it's an aspect of change in her life that she didn't expect. Considering what's happened since the last time they all gathered around it, it's understandable why she has to make peace with it.

Besides, Tenna has an incredible line of dialogue if you talk to him after making Susie's date outfit that I really don't think you should skip out on by giving him away too soon. (You can find him over to the right of the caldron, by the way.)

6 What Happens With the Puzzle After Turning Off Ralseis

Another One With a Funny Outcome No Matter What

Ralsei talking to Kris after literally blowing up a puzzle to skip it in Deltarune Chapter 5

When Flowery and Ralsei discuss voice clips, Ralsei suggests you turn Flowery's voice clips off in the settings. Flowery then reminds you to not turn off "Ralseis" in the settings if you go in and turn his voice off. In true Deltarune fashion, both options are there for a limited time.

I like Ralsei a lot, but I also thought that Flowery's voice lines were pretty stupid, so I left both of them on. Ralsei proceeded to be so desperate to get over to Susie that he blew up the puzzle that was standing in his way. That's what I got, but there were a few other options. If you turn off Flowery's voice clips, you get Ralsei acting smug about it a few moments later. If you turn Ralsei off and take your time with the puzzle, though, he'll proceed to silently get more frustrated that he can't help you until he splats on the ground in defeat.

Every single option here is so much fun. I just had to comment about them all here. Definitely play around next time you revisit Chapter 5 because it's well worth it.

5 Aqua and Seth's Duck Dance

A Trick from Tony's Book

Seth and Aqua dancing because Ralsei got downed by the duck attack in Deltarune Chapter 5

At the foot of the Flower Castle, you'll find Aqua and Seth. The two will be debating the difference between friends and the people you stab with knives. Once they find the difference with your help, Aqua will want to use her knives on you. Seth will tell her what attacks to use for tactical reasons. Which is the attack that damaged you the most the last time you fought the little gremlin. In my case, it was her Omega attack. So Seth had her use her Omega attack. Throughout. The entire. Fight.

Eventually, Seth will tell Aqua to use "that" attack, and she'll think they mean an attack with one little duck bullet. A very easy to dodge, slow-moving duck bullet. If you decide to let this duck bullet hit you, though, the two will be shocked, dance together, and then default to that attack for most of the fight after. Did I mention it only deals one point of damage?

It's a great way to get out of the Omega attack loop. And that's probably why this is an option. Spread the word.

4 Leaving the Dark World Early

I Love Annoying Susie

Susie pulling Kris back down from a Light World entrance in Deltarune Chapter 5

Flowery gives you numerous windows to leave his Dark World earlier than planned. What could be a good way to experience Castle Town mid-chapter is just to get you to turn a blind eye to the existence of another Dark Fountain. Kris, Susie, and Ralsei are determined to get Asgore back, and openly state they won't use it to go back to the Light World. Even the save point narration isn't keen on going home.

Too bad Kris isn't in control, huh? Did you ever wonder what would happen if you used the light to leave? The game doesn't stop you. You actually nearly get to leave, complete with half of the animation. Susie will grab Kris by their ankles and tell them to get down. If you do it again, she'll call you out for doing it on purpose. Any time after that, you just yet yanked down as fast as possible. It got such a great laugh out of me. I'm going to do that every time I play Chapter 5 from now on.

3 Trying to Get on the Ferris Wheel on an Aborted Weird Route

Noelle Will Remember This

Noelle telling Kris they can't make them do anything after an aborted Weird Route in Deltarune

Just like Undertale's Genocide Route, there are tons of times when you can back out of doing Deltarune's Weird Route if you want. The only time when that option's not available openly is in Chapter 5 itself. If you manage to back out before the festival, Noelle still remembers what you two have shared in private. It's awoken a new side to her, and she isn't afraid to show it. This shows up when you try to get her on the Ferris Wheel with you after attempting the Weird Route.

No matter what, Noelle is on a date with Susie during the festival, but you've got plenty of interactions you can use to flirt with Noelle instead. If you tell her to ride the Ferris Wheel with you in an aborted Weird Route file, she'll straight up laugh and tell you that you can't make her do anything. This interaction even uses the more sinister looking sprites you'd normally only see in Chapter 5's Weird Route scenes. There's a power behind these words, and it's pretty chilling to see out of the blue. Sent a shiver down my spine.

2 Throwing Off the Zen

Zenlooker Needs Anger Management or Something

Zenlooker rudely tells Kris to stop walking after they've left tons of steps in Zen Garden sand in Deltarune Chapter 5

In the same room with the quicksand and the yellow-shaped hole in the dirt, there's a secret passage off to the top left. In that corner, go left, and you'll find a secret zen garden area. If you walk around enough times, a Floradinn with a fox tail will appear and berate you for making a mess it'll need to use its tail to clean up. Go further to the left, and you'll find a chest with a TensionMax and a chair with Flowery's face on it. When you head back to the entrance, Zenlooker will have appeared off-screen.

Zenlooker will also be rude to you for leaving your footprints in the sand, ruining his meditation. This guy seems to have a real problem with letting you explore. It's found in one of the platformer vine puzzles outside the castle, and it'll be mad that you wanted to look for secrets there, too. They'll even stoop as low as to tell you to go try to speedrun a shower. Yikes!

Deltarune is a deceptively dense game, packed with secrets you almost definitely won't find on your own.

1 The Final Stop on the Weird Route

The Point of No Return Lies Beyond

Aborted Weird Route Dialogue from Noelle in Deltarune Chapter 5

Like I mentioned before, the Weird Route has tons of chances for you to back out along the way. By the time you reach Chapter 5 on it, it's hard to see anyone wanting to back down. Noelle doesn't want you to at this point, either. Telling her to stop doesn't work. She doesn't believe you, and says Kris isn't saying it the way they could before, so she doesn't listen.

With nowhere to go but literally down into the lake, the game gets blurrier and brighter the more you proceed. If you either purposefully don't keep moving the soul to the command Noelle wants, or fail to move it quick enough when you can't even see, you will abort the route. When you do, Noelle will act like all of it was a dream, and that it was a dream she falsely believed in. A number of scenes will imply that the festival was celebrated with Susie like normal, and that she doesn't have the power she thought she did.

It's a very huge, somewhat sad moment to run into, and it's only one you get by throwing away being stubborn for the last four chapters. It's hard to throw all of that away just for this scene. It might even be the last chance to back out that you're given, considering the other option skips Chapter 6 entirely, and that fits how powerful yet tragic it is.
