If the Borderlands series is known for anything, besides mayhem and psychos, it is legendary weapons. Players will farm bosses like the Timekeeper for hours upon hours in hopes of getting their favorite legendary items in Borderlands 4.

There are plenty of legendary weapons in Borderlands 4, but this article will be focusing on the assault rifles. In the base game, there are 17 legendary assault rifles, and a handful more in the DLCs, but not all of them are worth farming for.

Let's break down the best legendary assault rifles that you can get your hands on in Borderlands 4 and where you can find them.

8 Lumberjack

If you find yourself in the southern part of Idolator's Noose in the Fadefields, you might as well go fight the Foundry Freaks to get your hands on the Lumberjack, as it is one of the most powerful assault rifles in the game.

This assault rifle has strong damage, with it being able to cut down foes in quick succession, and it does this with sawblade bullets. That's right, this weapon shoots sawblades.

These blades can bounce off surfaces, and if they impact an enemy, the special ability allows the blades to deal consistent damage over time. Despite all of this, the Lumberjack falls short of the others weapons on the list.

7 Bubbles

Starting things off is a gun that will clean your enemies with elemental damage procs, and it is called bubbles. This weapon is dropped by Chiselbella in the Legend of the Stone Demon DLC, so if you don't have this DLC, this weapon will not be available to you.

What makes this weapon unique is that it fires bubbles instead of normal ammunition. Don't let this fool you, as Bubbles is a beast when it comes to elemental builds, making it great for characters like Harlowe and Vex.

6 Aegon's Dream

As far as legendary assault rifles go, Aegon's Dream deserves to be on the list thanks to its impressive fire rate and intense flames. This weapon only spawns as incendiary and cryo, but it packs a punch when you give it to a character built around elemental damage.

The special effect of this weapon allows it to shoot cryo ammo alongside the incendiary bullets. This weapon is obtained early in the game from Horace in Horace's Oversight.

5 G.M.R.

Aim

The G.M.R. packs a bit more of a punch than the previous weapons on the list, but it only does so at range. Big Name Hunter is the special ability of this weapon, and it increases the damage of the G.M.R. by 100% when you are aiming down sight.

Unfortunately, you will most likely use this weapon in hip-fire, meaning you won't get the full benefit of its abilities. Despite this, it still hits hard, but the ability can be a hindrance.

You can get your hands on this weapon about halfway through the campaign by fighting Driller Hole. It drops pretty often, so you shouldn't have trouble getting it.

Each time you score a critical hit with this weapon, it returns two bullets to the magazine. If you always get critical hits, you never run out of ammo, and it's pretty amazing.

You can get your hands on this powerful weapon by farming the Meathead Riders in The Old Scrape. It is well worth the farming efforts.

3 Bonnie and Clyde

Named after the legendary duo, the Bonnie and Clyde is a legendary assault rifle that features a standard firing mode and an underbarrel shotgun. It's ability, Pair of Thieves, grants 100% bonus damage to the gun's other fire mode and refills its magazine whenever you kill an enemy.

This gun takes some getting used to because you need to switch fire modes on it constantly. When you get a kill using the primary fire mode, you need to switch to the underbarrel shotgun, as it will be buffed by the gun's ability. The same happens when you get a kill using the shotgun. Despite this trickery, it is very powerful, and you can keep a constant buff on it while mowing down enemies.

You will get this weapon by farming Directive-0 in the Terminus District. Directive-0 is found in the Iron Wall Resolve Bunker.

2 Oscar Mike

Space Laser

The Oscar Mike is one of the most powerful legendary weapons in Borderlands 4, and it is because of one thing: space lasers. Thanks to this weapon's legendary alt-fire mode, you can call down a space laser that can absolutely delete bosses from existence.

Don't think that you have to rely on the alt-fire mode of this weapon, as the primary fire mode is also very powerful, with the Tactical Rounds ability buffing the damage of the first half of the magazine by 50%.

This is a great all-around weapon that is great in every circumstance, and you can get it from one of the game's optional bosses. To obtain the Oscar Mike, you will just need to farm Genone, located in the Society of Amateur Seismology Enthusiasts.

1 Wombo Combo

In general, the Wombo Combo is one of the highest DPS weapons in Borderlands 4. It has one of the fastest fire rates, allowing it to mow down enemies left and right.

It's bonus ability, Rip Rockets, allows it to shoot rockets from its underbarrel as you fire the weapon. This grants it additional splash damage that you can take advantage of with the various vault hunter abilities.
