Resident Evil Requiem is being heralded as one of the best titles in the Resident Evil series. This is mostly thanks to its amazing combination of survival horror while playing as Grace and fantastic gunplay when playing as Leon.

With the game returning to Raccoon City, it was obvious that there would be some pretty nostalgic moments. This was later confirmed when we saw that Leon would be returning to the police department — a moment that many thought would never come.

When playing Resident Evil Requiem, you play between Grace and Leon. Leon is meant to be action-packed, here are ways to make it extra fun.

There are many moments that are pure nostalgia in Resident Evil Requiem that will give you that nostalgic feeling, and we have compiled the best.

8 Plant Monsters

Burn Them Down

Resident Evil Requiem Plant43

If you played Leon's original game, Resident Evil 2, then you are probably familiar with Plant 43. This bioweapon appears near the end of the second title, and you are tasked with destroying it by creating a chemical solution.

Running into the Plant 43 monsters again in Resident Evil Requiem immediately sent us back to the second title in the series. Back then, we had a flamethrower and could burn them down. Now, we have to resort to shooting the plants until they back off. Either way, it is satisfying to see their return, and it is even more satisfying to see them burn at the end of the Plant 43 boss fight.

7 Jill's Baret

She's Been Through a Lot

Resident Evil Requiem Jill's Beret

We played the original Resident Evil game, and as bad the tank controls were, it is an experience that we will never forget. The game gave us some of our favorite characters in the series, with one of them being Jill Valentine.

Jill later makes a return in Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 5, and Revelations. Unfortunately, she doesn't make an appearance in Resident Evil Requiem, but you can find her beret while exploring the police department. If you go to the STARS office, you can find Jill's beret sitting on her desk. Seeing it again brought back all the memories of playing her old games and then fighting her in Resident Evil 5.

Resident Evil Requiem Barry's Scavenger Hunt

Another very nostalgic character in the Resident Evil series is good old Barry Burton. Barry has either appeared or been mentioned in many of the Resident Evil titles, with his most memorable games being Resident Evil and Resident Evil Revelations 2.

In Resident Evil Requiem, Barry doesn't make an appearance, but he is mentioned via a scavenger hunt. When you enter the STARS office in the police department, you can find a note from Barry, and it reminds us of the notes he left in past games. This entire scavenger hunt is one big nostalgia fest, with past characters mentioned and the photo of Rebecca making an appearance.

5 Leon Fighting Zeno

The Return of Wesker

Resident Evil Requiem Zeno and Leon

Fairly late in Resident Evil Requiem, we get to see Zeno use his powers, and they look very familiar. He quickly dodges bullets and effortlessly handles Leon. Let's face it, Zeno is absolutely superhuman, and he is comparable to only one other character in Resident Evil: Wesker.

Before we even saw the fight between the two of them, Zeno immediately brought back the feeling of seeing Wesker in Resident Evil 5, but the fight scenes truly captured that nostalgia of Chris and Wesker going at it. Honestly, it would have been wonderful to have a boss fight against Zeno, but we will settle for taking down Gideon and Mr. X.

4 The Lickers Return

Bring Us Back to Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil Requiem Leon and Lickers

This is even more Resident Evil 2 nostalgia for us, as the Lickers made their first appearance in this game. We never thought we would see the Lickers again, but then they started appearing in Ark at the end of Requiem, and it brought back the terror of sneaking around them in the police station.

While playing as Grace, it perfectly captures the feeling of seeing them for the first time in Resident Evil 2, but it gets better when you play as Leon. When Leon sees the Lickers, he knows how to handle them, and while the reunion is nostalgic, it feels so much better being able to quickly demolish them with your arsenal of weapons.

3 Fighting Mr. X

Pure Nostalgia

Mr. X is one of the staples of Resident Evil 2, and perhaps the series as a whole. For many, when they think of Resident Evil, they remember dealing with Mr. X as they made their way through the police station. While we know it isn't the same Mr. X as in Resident Evil 2, seeing the return of the tyrant in Requiem definitely brought back the memories.

Escaping the police station with this tyrant tracking us down brought up constant feelings of nostalgia. Afterward, fighting the tyrant made us giddy, especially with Leon saying some of his classic one-liners. This moment will remain in our minds for a while.

2 Gun Shop Kendo

The Saddest Moment

Resident Evil Requiem Skull Close Up

Gun Shop Kendo is the location of the saddest moment in all of Resident Evil, and it is a moment brought up before. This callback to both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 is one that fans will never forget, and it immediately made us nostalgic for those times when games knew how to rip and tear at your emotions.

Even Leon takes a moment to reminisce. When you reach the shop, you are welcomed with a cutscene of Leon remembering that night all those years ago, and how the owner's daughter was infected. All that remains now are the bones of those lost that night. While it is sad, it was great to remember those times when video games were more impactful.

1 Opening the Gate

Welcome Home, Leon

Resident Evil Requiem Leon Police STation

Let's take a trip down memory lane to the beginning of Resident Evil 2. After surviving an incident at a truck stop, Leon makes his way into Raccoon City. As the city falls into chaos, he reaches the police station, and quickly locks the gate behind him to prevent the zombies from getting in.

All these years later, Leon makes his way back to Raccoon City. The gate outside the police station is still locked. He walks up to the gate and throws the lock open in a great reversal of what he did in Resident Evil 2. He is no longer the same rookie cop, and he is prepared to face his past. There is no moment that felt more impactful for Leon in Requiem than this one.
