Bubbline returns for their biggest adventure yet

Bubblegum and Marceline curled up together in bed, leaning into each other, in Adventure Time. They are holding cups of tea.

The land of Ooo is always rife with adventure, but this June Oni Press and Warner Bros. are gearing up to give Adventure Time fans a new comic that they won’t forget. Adventure Time Pride Special: PB & MARCY’S INFINITE MIXTAPE #1 is a 40-page Pride Month special — the very first for the lovable animated series — celebrating fan-favorite couple Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen.

The two were confirmed as an established couple during the Adventure Time series finale, “Come Along With Me.” Ever since, the Bubbline hype has been real, with the couple getting spin-off comics following their story.

The latest comic following the couple comes from Rosie Knight (Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp) and artist Evgenia Vereli (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts 40x40). In this new Pride special, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum celebrate their anniversary by releasing a never-before-heard mixtape.

“Adventure Time has been at the heart of my life, friendships, and love of animation since I was lucky enough to catch an episode on Cartoon Network and fall in love with Finn, Jake, BMO, and the rest of the Land of Ooo,” Knight shared in a statement to Polygon. “To get to write a story in this world that has been touched by so many incredible creators is a dream in itself," Knight said. "But to get to take on a full issue about Marceline and Princess Bubblegum is a total honor. Even better, I get to do it alongside the incredible Evgenia, who is crafting romance and drama in her gorgeous art that you can’t even imagine.”

Knight explained to Polygon that there’s more to the comic than a dramatic new adventure for the couple: "One of the most exciting things about this story, though, is the fact that we got the chance to add to one of my favorite parts of Adventure Time canon: the songs. Yes, this comic isn’t called MARCY and PB'S INFINITE MIXTAPE for nothing, you will get to enjoy the girls writing and performing NEW SONGS!"

The comic also includes special covers from Chan (Plague House), Jaki King (KISMET), and Mary Ainza (Legendary Ninja of Feudal Japan).

The relationship between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline remains one of the most cherished examples of queer representation in animation, marking the series as a milestone for LGBTQ+ inclusion. This new comic will be a treat for fans, who can't wait to catch up with these two favorite characters.
