May the Force (and the 4th!) be with you today – and honestly, may it be with our wallets too, since the iconic Star Wars universe is expanding faster than a jump to lightspeed, not just in cinemas and Disney+ series, but especially in the gaming world.

We are currently looking at a relatively big wave of upcoming titles set in George Lucas’ franchise, with quite ambitious premises, different genres, and coming from known studios like Quantic Dream, Respawn Entertainment, Saber Interactive, and more.

Whether you are an RPG lover, an open-world fanatic, a strategy nerd, or simply an eclectic player who wants a unique adventure, it seems that there’s never been a more exciting (or busy) time to be a fan of a galaxy far, far away, since there is a project tailored for every type of player, ensuring that the Star Wars legacy continues to evolve and surprise us with every new announcement.

7 Star Wars: Eclipse

Become Droid

To kick off the list with plenty of style, we have what is arguably one of the most anticipated (and definitely the most mysterious) among all upcoming titles: Star Wars: Eclipse.

Set during the High Republic era (centuries before the original Skywalker Saga), this action-adventure game is being developed by Quantic Dream, the minds behind Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, meaning we can expect a narrative-driven experience featuring multiple protagonists where every choice can ripple through the galaxy.

However, that’s pretty much where the official trail goes cold, since we haven't heard a peep about the project since its breathtaking reveal at The Game Awards 2021. That teaser trailer, filled with stunning visuals and those iconic drums, highlighted new characters and classic Star Wars elements but left us hanging on the details.

As of now, Star Wars: Eclipse still has no confirmed release date or platforms, remaining the ultimate waiting game for the franchise fans.

6 Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Han Solo on Four Wheels

Moving into much clearer territory, we have Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by the folks at Fuse Games, a new studio formed by veteran developers of Need for Speed. Unlike Eclipse, we actually have tons of information about this one, and it is set to launch later this year! It’s arriving just in time to join the Ryan Gosling-led movie Star Wars: Starfighter and the Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord series as part of the 2026 franchise lineup.

Set in the Outer Rim, this racing title puts us in the shoes of Shade, a pilot seeking glory in the Galactic League, which is a risky, unsanctioned underground racing competition. According to its official description, the game is all about strategy and mastering three distinct styles of repulsorcraft: landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders. So it’s basically Han Solo on four wheels (or repulsors) – what’s not to love?

Jokes aside, Galactic Racer feels like a fresh departure from recent Star Wars racing games by returning to the franchise's roots with ground-based vehicles and grit, and we won’t have to wait long! Galactic Racer is set to launch on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.

5 Star Wars Zero Company

Star Wars Meets XCOM

Following the cancellation of the FPS project that Respawn Entertainment was developing, the studio was still tasked with another project set in the same universe: Star Wars Zero Company.

However, this one comes with a twist, as it is a partnership between Respawn and Bit Reactor (the studio behind XCOM and Civilization), meaning this is a brand-new turn-based strategy title that promises to be a treat for tactical fans.

Set during the Clone Wars, the game aims to capture the gritty atmosphere of that era, featuring a fully customizable main character and a complex base of operations where your squadmates can suffer permanent death if you are not careful!

If you are into the genre, you definitely should keep an eye on Zero Company. The game is slated for release in late 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a specific date has yet to be announced.

4 Star Wars Jedi 3

More Cal Kestis

Electronic Arts managed to deliver some truly remarkable experiences with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, so it was only natural that a third game would follow, right?

Despite not having an official title yet, the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi saga is already on the way, with Cal Kestis (played by the actor Cameron Monaghan) returning as the protagonist. While the Order 66 survivor list is surely becoming a bit crowded for my personal taste, these games remain incredibly fun for those who enjoy semi-open worlds with a Soulslike touch.

Details regarding Star Wars Jedi 3 are being kept under lock and key. It is likely the title is still in the early stages of development, but it’s important to note that this will be the first entry without director Stig Asmussen, who left Respawn to found his new studio, Giant Skull. We are eagerly awaiting an official reveal trailer.

3 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

A Dream on Hold

When it was first announced at a PlayStation Showcase in September 2021 that the legendary Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic would receive a full-scale remake, fans of both the franchise and the RPG genre went absolutely wild (myself included).

For many, it was the definition of a dream coming true, promising a modern reimagining of what is widely considered one of the greatest stories ever told in the Star Wars mythos.

However, that dream has faced a significantly rocky road toward becoming a reality. More than five years after that initial reveal, we are still left waiting for a gameplay trailer or any detailed information beyond that original cinematic teaser. And the reason for this silence, according to industry reports and insider speculation, is a series of internal development hurdles.

The project was initially spearheaded by Aspyr Media, a studio known for porting classic titles, but was eventually handed over to Saber Interactive (the team behind Evil Dead: The Game and Space Marine 2) in 2022 to supposedly “ensure the necessary quality.”

Despite the cloudy and often confusing nature of its development history, the official word from the publishers remains optimistic: the project is still alive and moving forward. Whenever it finally emerges from hyperspace, the remake is slated to launch for current-gen consoles and PC.

If the name Amy Hennig rings a bell, it is because she is the legendary visionary behind Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise. Currently, she is at the helm of Skydance New Media, the interactive division of the Skydance Media production giant, where she is leading the creation of a brand-new Star Wars action-adventure title!

This new project, announced back in 2022, is described as a narrative-driven experience featuring a completely original story. Since that announcement, the game has remained in silent development, with no official title, gameplay footage, or even concept art released to the public.

This level of mystery is typical for such high-budget Skydance projects, but it leaves plenty of room for speculation about whether we will be playing as a rogue smuggler, a Jedi in hiding, or something entirely new. With a creator of Hennig’s caliber involved, the expectations for cinematic storytelling and witty character work are quite sky-high, even if we still have no confirmed release window or platforms. All we can do for now is wait and trust in the Force and Hennig’s track record.

1 Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic

The Spiritual Successor We Deserve

Just as we started the list with one of the most anticipated titles in the industry, we must end with another heavy hitter that has recently appeared on the horizon: Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, the spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic.

Revealed at The Game Awards 2025, this RPG is currently being developed by Arcanaut Studios, the studio led by Casey Hudson, the original director of the original KOTOR and the architect behind the iconic Mass Effect trilogy. Knowing that the man who defined the modern Star Wars RPG is back in the captain's chair makes this title sound epic for a reason!

Sadly, concrete details remain scarce beyond the ambitious statements Hudson has shared since last year's reveal. He has claimed that the game represents the perfect opportunity to explore a “contemporary vision of a definitive Star Wars experience,” utilizing state-of-the-art technology and modern game design to focus on player agency and deep immersion. So for old-school RPG fans like myself, this is undoubtedly the project to watch most closely.
