All Mega Evolutions and Mega Stone locations in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

8 hours ago 1

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Evolutions are one of the main features, as so many of the Pokémon are capable of Mega Evolution, and it's a mechanic you'll need to use to take out some powerful enemies down the line.

Of course, your Pokémon can't Mega Evolve without their respective Mega Stone, so if you're itching for that hilarious Mega Starmie right away, we have some bad news for you. Some of the Mega Stones can't be obtained until you've progressed through the game, so you may be stuck with a regular old Starmie until you hit that point.

You'll unlock the ability to Mega Evolve after you complete Main Mission 9, which will introduce you to the concept and have you face off against a Mega Absol, but you won't unlock all of the Mega Stones automatically — you'll need to keep playing to unlock more. After getting that far, the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue will start selling Mega Stones, and shortly after that, you'll be introduced to a Mega Stone shop inside Quasartico Inc.

A rule of thumb is that if you see a Rogue Mega Evolution on your map as part of the story, you can safely assume that you'll get their Mega Stone after beating them. If you see one of major NPC characters using a specific Mega, you'll be able to buy that Mega Stone from Quasartico Inc. after that story arc ends.

Below, we list all the Mega Pokémon available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and where to find their Mega Stones.

Update (Dec. 16): We've updated this guide with the new Mega Dimension DLC Mega Evolutions. The Mega Evolutions that are only available in the DLC are in a new section added to the bottom of this post.

All Mega Pokémon and Mega Stone locations in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Below we list where to find all the Mega Stones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A in National Pokédex order, including what missions you have to complete to unlock them. All Mega Stones listed require you to clear that mission, unless otherwise stated, as some Mega Stones will unlock when you're going through a mission.

All Mega Pokémon and Mega Stone locations in the Mega Dimension DLC

Below, we've listed the Mega Pokémon and Mega Stones available in the Mega Dimension DLC. Note that while most of them will come from naturally progressing in the story and taking on Rogue Mega Evolutions, some of them come from side quests or randomized Hyperspace portals.

These random portals are marked on your map with a yellow question mark icon. When there's a Rogue Mega Evolution inside these portals, the fight is not nearly as grandoise and huge as the regular story battles, but you should still prepare for a potentially tough battle.

Note that our mission requirements listed for these portals should be used as an approximation of when they're should become available. Some of these portals didn't show up until later (due to the RNG of it all) for us, even if it was a lower-tier portal. For example, we didn't see Golisopod until after we saw Glimmora, but this may just be based on luck. You can refresh the portals available to you by resting on a bench and fast-forwarding between day and night.
