Are you concerned by the point of no return in Resident Evil Requiem? In video games, a point of no return is a certain moment where further progression might cause you to get locked out of areas or miss out on rewards. These segments are quite important, since you frequently switch between Leon's and Grace's perspectives during the course of your playthrough.
Note: Since we'll look into various segments from the beginning to the end of the campaign, this article will contain a lot of big-time spoilers. You can also visit our Resident Evil Requiem guides hub for everything you need to know about the game.
Points of no return and backup saves
For the sake of clarity, we won't list down every single item that you might miss during a particular run. That said, since a dozen or so slots are available, we do encourage you to keep backup saves during certain sections of the campaign.
Likewise, it bears mentioning that backup saves help you complete your tallies for challenges--i.e. specific tasks/achievements that yield challenge points (CP). Challenge progression is saved to your account and applies to reloads and across multiple playthroughs.
For example: There are 25 Mr. Raccoon collectibles in the game. While many are easy to spot, everything is technically missable if you advance too far into a level. But if you keep backup saves, then you can just safely reload that file in case you missed a collectible from earlier.
Early-game points of no return for Grace and Leon

You can expect to switch between Grace's and Leon's perspectives during the first few hours. There are also several points of no return during the introductory portions of the campaign.
- Wrenwood Hotel (Grace) - Progression occurs once you inspect the photos on the bed in Room 204.
- Rhodes Hill (Leon) - The game advances once Leon moves to the end of the highway.
- Care Center (Grace) - After grabbing the fuse in Room 204.
- Care Center (Leon) - After clearing out the infected in the Rehabilitation Ward. Note that this is also when you stumble upon your first Mr. Raccoon collectible.
Care Center Main Area points of no return

There are a few of Resident Evil Requiem points of no return in the Care Center's main area (i.e. the first, second, and third floors).
- Grace - Upon obtaining ID Wristband (Level 3), you have to bring a certain character to the Security Manager's Office. Once the encounter ends, you're supposed to drop down to the Basement level. This is a minor point of no return for Grace.
- It's the last time that you'll be able to battle the Chunk boss while playing as her.
- Make sure all Level 1 doors, as well as the Pantry door, are unlocked. Leon will be able to open the cabinets with warped doors once you control him.
- Leon - Leon's playable section here is fairly short. After defeating the Blister Heads in the Director's Office/Meeting Room, the perspective switches back to Grace again.
Care Center Basement point of no return

We've got all the details for you regarding this level in our Care Center Basement walkthrough. The area itself has a bunch of goodies for Grace, including items that increase inventory space and those that boost maximum health/damage.
The point of no return here happens once you've acquired all three Joint Plugs. When you place them in the main generator in the Holding Cells, a cutscene will trigger and you won't be able to return to this location.
Care Center Interior last point of no return

This is a major point of no return in Resident Evil Requiem. The main goal for the first few hours is to obtain all the jewels from the Puzzle Boxes. Then, once you unlock the Central Door, you're supposed to head out to the Courtyard.
Before you do that, though, keep a backup save handy in case you forget some stuff inside the facility. Notable examples include safe combinations, lockpicks, and Antique Coins/Parlor rewards.
Note: The next sections detail areas at the outskirts of the Care Center and beyond. Be ready for more spoilers.
Care Center Courtyard points of no return

The points of no return in the Courtyard are fairly minor:
- Research Facility (Grace) - You won't be able to return to the Research Facility once you exit.
- Rooftop (Leon) - This section has a Mr. Raccoon collectible that's very easy to miss. You can't do a manual save as Leon at this stage. However, if you keep a backup save during Grace's segment--i.e. before she leaves the Research Facility--then reaching this part again should be as painless as a quick reload.
- Chapel (Leon) - A cutscene automatically triggers once you defeat the boss in this location. Make sure you pick up all the ammo and consumables beforehand.
Water Treatment plant point of no return

There's a save point and item box in a room, and that's pretty much the point of no return. Past that, Grace will have to face a certain boss. Once that's done, several cutscenes will play, which then lead you to the game's next major area.
East Raccoon City point of no return

There is only one Resident Evil Requiem point of no return in this entire zone: The moment you destroy the gate using the detonator. The good news is that, once you do have the parts required for the explosives, you can keep a backup save handy. This lets you revisit all the areas in case you may have missed something. Don't forget to open all the BSAA Containers, too.
Raccoon City Center and RPD points of no return

Raccoon Police Department (RPD) is chock-full of Easter eggs that are likely to pique the interest of long-time Resident Evil fans. There's also Barry's Scavenger Hunt, which yields some nifty rewards. That said, there are a few important points of interest here:
- Raccoon City Center exterior - Once you enter RPD, you won't be able to leave via the main door.
- RPD East Wing - When Leon goes to the East Wing, a cutscene would occur, followed by a section where you play as a different character. You won't be able to replay this section once you finish it.
- Orphanage/Blackthorn - You can grab a bunch of stuff in RPD and the surrounding area. It's also a good idea to have a backup save. Once you enter the Orphanage and drop down the sewer vent, you won't be able to return to the surface.
Note: All right, we're at the home stretch. The next points of no return are from the last level in the campaign. Major spoilers definitely await.
ARK points of no return

There are several points of no return for both Leon and Grace while they go through the ARK facility:
- Central Refining System (Leon) - You can keep a backup save after beating the "Commander" boss at the corridor leading to the Central Refining System. Once you enter the large chamber at the end of the corridor, you won't be able to revisit the initial areas.
- Lobby (Grace) - Your goal here is to find two orbs to unlock the large red door. Once you have both items, keep a backup save at the Lab Entrance in case you want to recheck some of the rooms.
- B4 Staff Room (Leon) - After defeating all the enemies and waiting for the elevator to arrive, you can keep a backup save in the B4 Staff Room. Once you ride the elevator, you'll be heading straight to the game's conclusion.
Endings point of no return

We don't want to spoil all the details here, so here's a quick summary:
- After the Bioweapon Repository/B4 Staff Room encounter as Leon, the perspective switches back to Grace.
- You then have to decide what to do with a certain machine. This leads to one of two outcomes.
- Depending on the outcome that you get, you're given a chance to reload the system-generated autosave at the moment when Grace has to make a decision.
That does it for our Resident Evil Requiem points of no return guide. We hope these tips help you plan your first full playthrough. Since you've made it this far in spite of all the spoilers, maybe you're also curious about the all the bosses, endings, and Easter eggs, too.
