At its core, Mina the Hollower is a game driven entirely by player curiosity and deep exploration, since this gothic world is absolutely teeming with optical illusions, hidden rooms, unique weapons, and highly unusual NPCs – where even a simple, unassuming merchant can turn out to be far more than they initially appear.
And a prime example of this is Poppit! If you’ve already spent a few hours diving into Yacht Club Games' latest masterpiece, there is a very high chance you have already stumbled upon his cave (or rather, one of his many caves).
10 Action Indie Games with Better Combat Than God of War
Kratos in his Norse version is brutal, but these independent creations are even more so.
At first glance, Poppit cuts the figure of a standard traveling merchant sporting a rather slim inventory, usually selling just a single Trinket and a Kear. However, beneath his quiet storefront lies a massive (and according to him, terrible) secret.
The truth is that he sets up shop across three different regions, always tucked away inside hidden caverns that are subtly marked by distinct purple decorations. Paying a visit to every single one of his shops and completely buying out his inventory each time triggers one of the most delightful and eerie surprises in Mina the Hollower. So, to make sure you don't miss a thing, this guide will detail every Poppit location in Mina the Hollower and the unique rewards waiting for you at the end of his questline. Without further ado, let’s dive in!
Poppit Location 1: Eastern Heath
Poppit’s very first shop can be found nestled deep within the lush grasslands of the Eastern Heath. To get there, exit through the eastern gate of Ossex and cross the main bridge (if you haven't unlocked this bridge shortcut yet, you will need to loop around via the lower path, navigating through a series of platforming puzzles and enemies to hit the floor switch on the opposite side to clear the way).
Once across, advance onto the next screen where the path splits upwards and to the right, pushing past two moving spike traps. Hang a right here and immediately head downward. In this next screen, which is filled with even more oscillating spike traps, make your way all the way to the bottom of the arena while hugging the right-hand wall.
At the very bottom of the level geometry, you will spot a tiny, obscured crevice. Use your burrowing ability to dive underground and slip right through the gap. Inside, you’ll discover Poppit’s first storefront! Speak to him and buy out his entire stock, which consists of a single Trinket and a Key, totaling roughly 600 Bones.
Poppit Location 2: Western Wilds
The second Poppit shop is located within the Western Wilds, hidden inside a secluded cabin at the far end of the region, right near the shortcut that loops back to Ossex.
You can reach this zone by leaving the main town through the southern exit and immediately hooking a sharp left. Follow the winding upper path, crossing a treacherous volcanic landscape filled with aggressive minotaurs, red slimes, and some (annoying, I must add) lava puzzles. Keep pushing forward and upward until you eventually bump into a cabin labeled the Molten Foundry and step inside.
The moment you enter the foundry, you will face a ladder with glowing lava bubbling across the floor. If you look closely at the walls to your immediate left and right, things will look a bit suspicious – that’s because both sides actually hide secret passages! To navigate this hazard, you need to use your burrowing ability to dig through the floor, intentionally guiding a stream of flowing lava from a nearby barrel toward the left to illuminate your path until you spot a hidden hole at the bottom of the wall.
You have to be quite fast here: you need to divert the lava to the opposite side while ensuring Mina doesn't accidentally plummet into the open pit directly ahead. The best trick is to listen closely to the audio cue of Mina's digging and release the action button the exact microsecond you clear the wall barrier. Once safely through, quickly dig out additional paths to shatter the red blocks blocking the upper section, ultimately revealing Poppit hanging out in the hidden chamber! Interact with him and, once again, buy out his vast inventory of wonders (another Trinket and Key) for the same price as before.
10 Cozy Games Where the World Feels Bigger the More You Learn About It
Just because the game is low-key doesn't mean the world can't have depth.
Poppit Location 3: Southern Outskirts
The third and final Poppit storefront is located back in the Southern Outskirts, tucked away inside the Forgotten Cave. This location is situated directly along the mandatory path leading toward Bone Beach, making it by far the hardest one to accidentally miss, since you naturally have to walk right past it to progress through the main story.
To track it down, backtrack to the game’s opening tutorial first zone in the Southern Outskirts (where there’s a bunch of weird bats) and head east to explore the section that was previously inaccessible due to the raging wildfires. You’ll quickly spot a vibrant purple flower that grants a massive vertical jump boost – and you’d better get used to these, as you'll be seeing them a lot from here on out.
Enter the cave entrance to the right and use the purple flowers inside to launch Mina across the gaps until you reach the exit on the right side of the cavern. Once outside, push forward along this newly opened path, unlocking both regional shortcuts (the upper dam floodgate and the lower rope). Use another purple flower to launch yourself up to the highest cliffside platform at the bottom of the screen, where you will need to dispatch two red crows and a very big and strong enemy (be careful!).
In the exact same arena where you defeated the giant, look closely at the ledge right below you to spot an opening adorned with distinct purple decorations. Burrow straight down to enter the gap and uncover Poppit’s final shop. You know the drill by now: speak to him and completely buy out his inventory. His goods will be a bit pricier this time around, costing you a grand total of 8,000 Bones.

Malevolent organizations, unbeatable aliens, self-fulfilling prophecies… These independent games' writing has nothing to envy from big productions.
The Rewards for Finding All Poppit Shops
Once you have successfully tracked down all three shops and purchased every single item in their respective stocks, Poppit’s dialogue at the final location will take an unsettling turn. He will abruptly “invite” you to visit his true lair – though it feels less like a warm invitation and more like a situation where Mina doesn't have much of a choice.
It is at this exact moment that the mysterious traveling merchant finally sheds his disguise and reveals his true identity: Grinnsly, a bizarre, entirely pitch-black creature sporting a horrifying, wide-eyed grin that gives Undertale’s Flowey a run for his money.
As you continue interacting with him, the conversation gets progressively stranger, and Grinnsly explains that his dark secret hobby involves crafting intricate puppets – and that the Poppits you met across Ossex were merely his mindless marionettes all along.
He then extends a chilling offer to Mina, asking if she would like to become one of his precious puppets as well. Then, for a hilarious and deeply unsettling little surprise, try responding with "I don’t know" to trigger a sequence with him.
Once the moment concludes (I won’t detail it here to avoid spoilers!), your ultimate reward for uncovering Grinnsly’s dark secret is a highly unique item: the Disturbing Dance Trinket. Equipping this charm grants you a dedicated, standalone button to make Mina bust a move on command, and you can even customize and change up her dance moves as you play. Congratulations, you’ve unlocked the finest secret groove in Ossex!
