It’s been nearly a year since Rockstar Games released a trailer for its upcoming open-world game, Grand Theft Auto 6. And fans are getting restless and starting to do what GTA fans do best: Speculate, investigate, and then connect dots to convince themselves something is about to happen. This time, fans think the third trailer for GTA 6 is arriving soon. And you know what, they might be right this time!
Over the last two weeks or so, a growing number of Grand Theft Auto fans began claiming or suggesting that the next trailer will arrive either in the final days of April or in the first few weeks of May. Why? Well, let me walk you through this latest GTA fan theory.
The biggest reason many fans are expecting a new trailer is that on April 23, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, announced that its fourth-quarter earnings call would happen on May 22. And historically, Rockstar has released trailers or made big announcements in the days leading up to an earnings call. For example, trailer two dropped on May 6 of last year, and then on May 15, Take-Two’s Q4 2025 earnings call happened. The last time Rockstar announced a delay was November 6, 2025, the same day as a Take-Two earnings call.
So there is clearly a pattern of GTA 6 news happening right around the time of a new earnings call. But it isn’t always good news. Still, that does seem to indicate that something GTA 6-related will be announced or teased in the next few weeks ahead of Take-Two’s May 22 financial call. And considering it’s been nearly a year since the last trailer, it does seem like a perfect time to drop trailer three.
Other evidence for a new trailer coming soon involves people looking back at how past Rockstar-developed games have been marketed and teased. This is a bit less convincing, as the creators behind the images comparing different marketing timelines for Rockstar titles seem to imply or assume that GTA 6‘s rollout is the same as that for past games. That’s just not true for so many reasons, including a global pandemic, repeated leaks, and issues with Rockstar devs. But, if you compare the timelines, it does seem like, based on how things went with Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V, we are entering a period of time when GTA 6′s next trailer should drop.
Usually, these community-created theories don’t hold much water and seem utterly desperate. Remember the moon stuff? That said, I think it’s obvious as we enter the final seven months before GTA 6‘s launch in November that Take-Two and Rockstar will start ramping up marketing and get the hype train rolling. Well, assuming the game avoids another delay. If it does and it remains on track for that winter launch, then we know marketing is set to start kicking into high gear this summer because Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said as much in February.
A big new trailer dropping in late May seems like a perfect way to start the marketing blitz as we enter the home stretch. GTA 6 is almost here. Probably. Just, like, 200 days to go.
