There are 13 different types of buildings to unlock in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (not including the houses your Miis live in) that will help you decorate your island and provide different services. Some are shops, and others are just cool areas for your Miis to hang out in.
You will likely unlock most of these just from playing the game normally, but if you want to take a glance ahead to see what you have left to unlock, we're here to help you out. Below, we list out all the buildings in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and explain what they do.
All buildings in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
A handful of the buildings will unlock during the game's tutorial as you create new Miis, but some of them are a bit more mysterious. Some of the later unlock requirements for these buildings are unknown, as we would just be playing normally and a news cast would suddenly begin, noting that we unlocked something new.
Here's a list of possible ways to unlock buildings in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream:
- Create more Miis
- Raise Mii happiness levels
- Forge relationships
- Resolve Mii ponderings
- Play Mii minigames to earn treasure
For reference, we had 16 Miis on our island before the final building, the ferris wheel, was unlocked for us.

|
Food Mart |
Buy food here, with a set of four random foods appearing on sale per day. Every food you buy once will be able to be purchased permanently, so make sure to buy any new food that appears each day. |
|
Wishing Fountain |
Interact with the fountain every day to collect donations from your Miis. You also use the fountain to unlock new features by exchanging them for wishes. |
|
Where & Wear |
Buy clothing here, with new stock coming in every day. Similarly to food, any clothes you purchase will be added to the shop's permanent stock, so buy the new clothes you like before the day ends to keep them unlocked. |
|
T&C Reno |
Buy indoor sets to decorate your Miis' homes with here. |
|
Quik Build |
Buy decorative items, like fences, foliage, and even more buildings (that you've already unlocked) here. |
|
Palette House |
This is where you can design different creations, including custom food, clothing, pets, and even housing interiors, so long as you've unlocked the ability to do so from the fountain. |
|
Treasure Shop |
This is where you can buy the treasures you've designed in Palette House. |
|
MNN News Station |
Interact with this building daily to get a silly news station report from your island Miis. |
|
Rite Price |
This is a pawn shop where you can sell off any treasure you don't want anymore. |
|
Tomoria |
This is a restaurant where your Miis can hang out. |
|
Marketplace |
This is a limited-time shop where your Miis will sell discounted items throughout the day, and sell a mystery bag of three random items at night. |
|
Foto-Tomo |
This is a photo studio where you can pick from different poses and slot your Miis in to take silly photos. More pose options unlock as you do various things on the island. |
|
Ferris Wheel |
This is another place for your Miis to hang out. There's also a ferris wheel minigame you can play with your Miis (if they ask you to, similar to the quiz-type minigames). |
You may notice that there are quite a few buildings from the Nintendo 3DS Tomodachi Life game missing, like the concert hall. These are just completely gone in this game, unfortunately.
