February saw Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered debut for modern platforms, while November saw Lara Croft herself earn two new world records as the best-selling video game heroine and as the video game character to appear on the most magazine covers.
December additionally saw the world announcement at the Game Awards 2025 of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a 2026 remake of 1996's Tomb Raider, alongside the announcement of Tomb Raider: Catalyst, set to launch in 2027.

The next actor to play Lara Croft in a live-action project has been revealed, and it's a face that will be very familiar to fans of nerdy projects.
While a few cast members of Amazon Prime's live-action Tomb Raider series were announced throughout 2025, such as Sophie Turner as the titular Tomb Raider, the series' main collective cast wasn't announced until recently.
Lara Croft's New and Familiar Cast
In September last year, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that English actress Sophie Turner, famous for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones series, was cast as the leading role of Lara Croft.
Later on in December, English actors Martin Bobb-Semple and Jason Isaacs, famous for their roles as Lando Johnson in All American: Homecoming and Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, were revealed to be joining the show though their exact roles were unknown.
Now, about one year away from Amazon Prime's Tomb Raider official production start, Amazon has finally revealed the show's main cast and their roles in the series.
aboutamazon.comBobb-Semple will play Croft's long-time friend and right-hand man when it comes to tech, Zip, who first appeared in Tomb Raider: Chronicles, while Isaacs will play Croft's uncle, Atlas DeMornay, who first appeared in-game in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The two English actors are joined by Scottish actor Bill Paterson, famous for his role as Ned Gowan in Starz' Outlander series, who will play Winston, the Croft Manor butler who first appeared in Tomb Raider II.
The rest of the cast will play completely new characters, original to the show, including:
- American actress Sigourney Weaver, famous for her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien fillms, will play the mysterious and manipulative Evelyn Wallis.
- British actress Celia Imrie, famous for her role as Una Alconbury in the Bridget Jones films, will play Head of Advancement at the British Museum Francine.
- British actress Juliette Motamed, famous for her roles as Ayesha in the We Are Lady Parts series and as Carina in the Halo TV series, will play a curator at the British Museum called Georgia.
- British actor John Heffernan, famous for his role as Nero in Final Fantasy XIV, will play a government official called David.
- English actor Jack Bannon, famous for his role as Alfred Pennyworth in MGM+'s Pennyworth series, will play Gerry, Croft's pilot.
- English actor Paterson Joseph, famous for his recent role as Arthur Slugworth in Wonka, will play a government official called Thomas Warner.
- German-Swedish actor August Wittgenstein, famous for his role as Markus in the miniseries Faithless, will play the raider Lukas with a complex history with Croft.
- Russian actress Sasha Luss, famous for her role as Anna Poliatova in 2019's Anna, will play a competitive rival to Croft called Sasha.
