Seemingly coinciding with New Horizon's 3.0 update, an Dream Island institution is no longer available for exploration
Risqué is the last word anyone would use to describe a game like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Nintendo seems intent on keeping it that way. The creator of a notorious island claims that Nintendo actually banned their creation right before the life sim's big 3.0 update. Known as the Animal Crossing "adult" island, the destination was designed from the ground up to be as suggestive as possible.
As spotted by Automaton, @churip_ccc, the mind behind the adult-themed Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, recently took to social media to announce that their creation would no longer be available for visits via Dream Islands. What makes the apparent ban curious is that, prior to its deletion, the island was accessible for five full years. During that time, churip_ccc's destination became an infamous hot spot for average players and influencers alike, with no shortage of reaction videos viewable on sites like YouTube.
From the moment the player sets foot on the island, they are bombarded with references to sex. There are stands that look like they sell adult magazines, and signs that advertise the idea of love hotels. Automaton notes that the stands are meant to be "information centers," which in Japan help guide people toward things like strip clubs and brothels.
When the player enters the creator's actual house, it is plastered with posters that make it seem like they are in an adult video booth where villagers are the performers. Beyond obvious inclusions like the statue of David, the island is full of smaller spicy details, like crumpled tissues next to a bed. Outside, the island and its many neon lights evoke the idea of city nightlife. The adult theme went beyond the sexual, however: There were also areas of the island that were designed to look like casinos. But mostly, the island was known for rooms like the one where the statue of a woman is surrounded by a wallpaper of paparazzi.
Footage of the island quickly went viral in 2020, with some uploads reaching millions of views. People still loved to visit it in 2025, as evidenced by recent uploads. But if you're logging in for the new 3.0 update, you'll no longer be able to visit what once was considered an Animal Crossing institution.
Mostly, churip_ccc seems grateful that Nintendo was so lenient up until now.
"Nintendo, we sincerely apologize," churip_ccc wrote on social media site X, according to a machine-based translation. "Rather, thank you so much for overlooking it for over 5 years. To everyone who visited the adults' island, to all the streamers who featured it, Thank you very much."
In the replies, fans are disappointed to see the adult island go — but they also think it was a "miracle" that churip_ccc's creation was left standing for so long.
The adult island's creator, however, seems to have moved on long ago. Most of churip_ccc's recent social media posts are showing off a much more innocent island they made to celebrate a suit-wearing villager called Beardo. Still: RIP Adult Island.
