Antivirus Girl is a defense shooter game where you become an inspector for the anti-malware Sentinel to protect computers from malware.

Antivirus Girl PC (Build 24041746 Final)

Inspect files coming in from the network, let safe files pass through, and immediately eliminate malware. Can you survive the constantly evolving digital threats? Become a new inspector for the advanced antivirus ‘Sentinel’ and protect computers from external threats. It has great enemy variety. There are the standard enemies, flyers, enemies that split on death, fast rollers that need to be shot to slow them down, armored ones, and more. Having completed it, it feels like there’s something for every situation, though thankfully some enemy types are restricted to boss fights. It has boss fights too, probably at the end of each chapter, so that’s pretty cool.

Each boss fight also has phases, technically shields that need to be removed by playing a minigame at the end. It’s mostly classic stuff seen elsewhere. Some of them feel rougher than others, and the endgame boss’s minigame, which is basically Pong, is especially questionable. It’s on a timer, and success feels more like luck than skill. It also makes great use of its premise as an antivirus scanner, where boxes need to be scanned to determine whether they’re malware or not. That means not everything can just be killed on sight. It’s basically another bottleneck to manage. Towers can both scan and kill, but it still adds another thing to plan around.

There are also these R18 files that appear later. They’re suspicious, so towers automatically target them at Antivirus Girl, but they’re actually safe. They need to be escorted for a short period so the towers don’t destroy them before they can be sent off. It doesn’t sound like much, but it gets exciting when there’s a crisis brewing on the other side of the map while this also needs attention in Antivirus Girl. One got killed once with seemingly no downside—not even a lost star—so who knows. Personal weapons are typical FPS fare. They work, but they aren’t especially exciting, though that probably isn’t the focus of Antivirus Girl.

Choosing the right one is essential for earning three stars; otherwise it’s easy to get overwhelmed. After a while, there are also bots or drones that can be unlocked during missions by gaining experience, similar to roguelike games. They’re a nice bonus, but they don’t seem particularly impactful. Tower variety is solid, and they all serve different purposes. The repeater seems kind of weak, though. Antivirus Girl doesn’t include some staples of more traditional tower defense games, like artillery towers, but the available towers are distinct enough. Some function more as support towers, such as the scanner that strips enemy shields or another that slows enemies.

  • Sentinel consists of various departments such as Scan, Clean, and Analysis. What kind of stories will unfold with the agents there?
