Whether it's trudging through the world of Elden Ring, or grinding out raids in Old School Runescape, Laurence is always up for a challenge. However, in real life, his current challenge is learning how to speak Spanish and cooking authentic Mexican cuisine.
Quests in ARC Raiders can take you just about anywhere! From the tops of towering mountain ranges, to secret locked rooms and even right into the mechanical maws of ARC's vicious robots.
Some of these quests can be done quickly, inside a couple of minutes, while others will have you traipsing across entire maps in search of tiny notebooks and boxes of parts. A Lay of the Land is one of those, I’m afraid. But with good prep, it can be done with time to spare, once you know what you’re doing, of course.

ARC Raiders: Where To Use the Spaceport Control Tower Key
This guide explains where to use the Spaceport Control Tower Key in ARC Raiders.
Let’s take a look at how to swiftly complete this quest and the rewards you’ll be granted upon its completion.
Quest Prerequisites
Before you can even attempt his quest, you’ll need to have completed “A Reveal in Ruins” and a fairly lengthy quest chain that precedes it. Focus on completing Celeste’s questline and Lance's orders, and eventually this quest will appear.
A Lay of the Land requires you to head out to the Spaceport map, starting your search in the Jiangsu Warthouse, found on the northwest edge of the map. From there, you’ll head to the Control Tower, where you’ll find the final item and have to make your way back.
This must be done in one run of the map. If you fail, you’ll have to start from scratch.
Due to how far you have to travel and the time it takes to search for the items, it’s certainly worthwhile to have some adrenaline shots with you, to minimise walking time. I started with less than 20 minutes on my run, and just barely made it out in time. So beware.
In addition, you should definitely bring a decent firearm and something to distract larger ARC units, as Bastions like to hang out outside the control building. It almost got me with 2 minutes to go!
Definitely bring a Spare Hatch Key with you. This has saved my life countless times.
Steps to Completion
First, load the Spaceport map, then make your way northwest to the Jiangsu Warehouse. Hopefully, unlike me, you’ll spawn close by. If not, try to stick to the map's outer edges, as the centre can be pretty hectic.
Once you’re inside the main warehouse, look up to see a room overlooking the central area. Head upstairs and into the Foreman’s Office. You’ll see a stack of notes sitting on a desk. There are a bunch of drawers beneath the notes, too. Chances are, no one has looted this yet, so go to town.
As soon as you have the notes, it’s time to head southeast towards the Control Tower Building. The scanners can be found in the eastern half of the building, in the destroyed office area. The parts can be found secluded behind some barriers, in the southern section of the area. You may have to double back on yourself after entering this room in order to see the scanners.

As soon as you have the quest item, it’s time to make your escape. If you have time, head to one of the main extract points. However, if you don’t, there is a Raider hatch directly in front of the control tower building. Zipline down and run the short distance across to the hatch. I encountered a bastion patrolling here, so be careful!
Rewards
After completing this quest, you’ll unlock the next quest in the chain, “Eyes in the Sky”, which sees you using those scanners to place in high positions across various maps.
In addition, you’ll get awarded the following items:
- 1x Dam Testing Annex Key
- 3x Zipline
- 2x Smoke Grenades
The Ziplines you get here will be invaluable for the next quest, so don’t forget to equip them on your next run!
