Arc Raiders Beachcombing map condition explained

1 hour ago 2

The Beachcombing map condition is the latest minor variant to be added to Arc Raiders, and it takes place exclusively on Riven Tides, the game's newest map. After all, that's the one with the beach. It's all about scouring the open sands for items with the Dockmaster's Detector, which is just a metal detector with a fancy name.

Here's everything you need to know about the Beachcombing map condition on Riven Tides in Arc Raiders, how to use the Dockmaster's Detector, where to look, what you can find, and more.

When exploring Riven Tides during the Beachcombing map condition, the Dockmaster's Detector can be found as standard loot in any container. It's also available as a reward for some of the new quests. However, there's one key thing to keep in mind: this is a utility item, which means you need to put your weapons away to use it.

With it equipped, you can scan the sand for loot. Much like the Photoelectric Cloak, you must hold down the use button, and if there's loot in your vicinity, it will periodically flash yellow. The quicker it flashes, the closer you are. When you're almost there, it will flash green to indicate you're looking in the right direction, and when you've found it, a prompt to dig will appear.

Valuables can be found all over the map, but according to the official blog post, "the richest hunting grounds are out in the open." Not the end of the world if you're in a friendly lobby, but if you're primarily a PvP player… good luck. One final change to the Beachcombing map condition is that there is a higher number of birds on the map, which alert Arc (and other players) if you disturb them.

In my experience using the Dockmaster's Detector, loot will usually be in buried suitcases that can contain anything from gun parts to model ships for the current Miniature Voyages event. However, you may also encounter "bad" loot. My first two attempts at looting something revealed two mines that immediately detonated, and another attempt unveiled a Tick. In six digs however, three of them were "good" loot just be prepared to heal if you get unlucky.
