Embark Studios' new dystopian extraction shooter, ARC Raiders, will instantly test your moral compass—will you work together with your fellow Raiders, or shoot them on sight?

The Raider community appears to be very divided when it comes to PvP; some love it, and some want it gone for good, but Embark recently confirmed they've implemented a system that could appease both sides.

ARC Raiders Matchmaking Is Determined By Skill And Aggression

During a recent interview with GamesBeat, Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund spoke about the matchmaking systems that are currently in place, "Obviously, first it's skill-based, of course."

While there isn't much information available about this skill-based matchmaking system, your Trial Ranking and how consistently you are successfully extracting could potentially be two determining factors in who you get matched up with.

The aggression-based matchmaking system that was recently added is still under development. "A week ago or so, we introduced a system where we are matchmaking based on how prone you are to PvP or PvE. So, if your preference is to do PvE and have less conflict with players, you'll get matched up with that. Obviously, it's not a full science."

The ARC Raiders team previously stated they've also considered loot/gear-based matchmaking systems, but it is unclear whether they are still considering adding them to the game.

Player-vs-player combat in ARC Raiders is one of the biggest reasons why the game has had so much success, as it creates an extremely tense, challenging, unpredictable experience, but not everybody wants that.

For the players who want to enjoy the PvE without having to worry about hostile Raiders shooting them in the back and stealing their loot, this newly added system will slowly start to filter out the chaos-causing players from your lobbies.
