ARC Raiders PvE-Only Mode is Unlikely to Happen, and That Might Be for the Best

Embark Studios has been fine-tuning its formula, and we're starting to see the results.

The ARC Raiders team shared a teaser video earlier today, showcasing powerful high-speed winds, flying debris that damages your shield, and low visibility—but there are ways for you to not only survive the storm, but thrive in it.

ARC Raiders Hurricane Will Affect The Trajectory of Grenades

As the storm approaches, Embark has graciously provided a detailed weather report, giving Raiders the chance to prepare for the dangerous road ahead. Players brave enough to venture topside during the hurricane map condition will face three main threats: wind, debris, and low visibility.

The wind will slow you down and drain your stamina if you're fighting against it, but if you have a tailwind, you'll move faster, and jumping will also be affected.

Throwable items like grenades will behave differently, which means raiders may have the opportunity to throw grenades much further than before.

Looking to conceal your position with a smoke grenade? That might be problematic, as smoke and gas may be blown away by the wind.

Being struck by flying debris will not only make your shield degrade, it will cause it to glitch and spark, revealing your location to nearby raiders. This will force players to consider taking their shield off in certain situations when stealth is paramount.

As you might expect in the midst of a hurricane, visibility will be at an all-time low. Embark has stated, "The skies have shifted, and low clouds make topside almost unrecognizable."

This means flying ARCs may be able to sneak up on you behind the veil of dark clouds, as howling winds will also affect your ability to hear the buzz of an approaching ARC.

Luckily, braving the storm does come with rewards, as the extreme weather has unearthed valuable first wave raider caches. As the ARC Raiders community continues to showcase impressive feats of parkour and wacky tech, it will be interesting to see how players interact with the wind.
