The Arc Raiders patch notes for today's 'Headwinds' update have landed, and there's a big surprise in there: two new augments. The patch notes don't disclose specific details, so what are the new augments?
The most exciting of the two is the Looting Mk.3 (Safekeeper) augment. It adds something players have been clamoring for: a safe pocket that allows any item to be stored. That's right: when you get your hands on a rare weapon, such as a Bettina, Vulcano, or even an Aphelion, Equalizer, or Jupiter, you can stick it in your safe pocket, so it doesn't matter if you die. Other augments prevent weapons from going in this slot, so you're limited to smaller items.
The other augment added is slightly less exciting, but still very useful. The Tactical Mk. 3 (Revival) has the same passive effect as the Combat Mk. 2 augment (restores one health point every five seconds), but it comes with an integrated, reusable defibrillator. The defib has a four-minute cooldown though, so you can't spam it repeatedly in fights.
Other highlights from the patch notes include the following:
- The new "Solo vs Squads" matchmaking option, which allows solo players to take on full squads will offer +20% bonus XP whether you extract successfully or not.
- The Trophy Display project is long-term, meaning there's no deadline for completion, and its progress will not be affected by expeditions. Completing the whole thing rewards 300,000 coins, a howl emote, and a guitar, and individual steps have blueprints available.
- Bird City, the new map condition for Buried City, is permanent, and it'll have more flying arc enemies and more players nearby.
- Leapers have been buffed: they're better at walking when they lose their legs. Yeah, we're not sure how this one works either.
- The chance of finding higher-tier weapons in weapon cases has been increased.
- Finding unique queen and matriarch parts in their armor pieces is now slightly harder, so you need to destroy them completely to have a better chance.
- The music puzzle in Buried City has been removed, but guitars can now be bought from Shani in Speranza.
- Stella Montis has had its infamous out-of-bounds wall glitches fixed, and players can no longer hide inside the Seed Vault extraction after it's closed.
- Lamps have also been turned off during Stella Montis night raids.
- Streamers are less likely to be targeted by players now, as there's a matchmaking delay option.
- Finally, a "three strikes progressive ban system is in the process of being implemented." This means cheaters will initially be banned for 30 days, repeat offenders for 60 days, and then on the third strike, the ban will be permanent.
