Arknights: Endfield has many different systems, which can be tough to keep up with. From managing your factory, pulling new characters, and upgrading your operators, there is a lot going on, especially if you’re new to gacha games.
One of the more interesting features in Arknights Endfield is Sanity, a word that is mentioned quite a bit throughout your playthrough of the game. However, the game never necessarily goes into detail about what Sanity entails.

That’s where this guide comes in. In this guide, we explore everything you need to know about Sanity in Arknights Endfield, such as what it’s used for, how to increase max capacity, and how to replenish it.
How Does Sanity Work in Arknights: Endfield?
Sanity is a unique mechanic that allows you to acquire rewards after clearing Protocol Spaces. These are small combat challenges that provide XP materials to level up your character and weapons, as well as provide Operational XP to raise your overall Authority Level.
Players won’t be able to spend Sanity until they complete the 8th main mission, “Building an Outpost.” After completing this mission, the game introduces Protocol Spaces, which are small and black-colored rifts in the environment. These rifts can be found all throughout the map, each offering different combat challenges.
Interacting and completing the Protocol Spaces will cost you Sanity, which then allows you to claim the rewards. Keep in mind that after you find a Protocol Space on the map, you can then easily access it from the Operational Menu.
How to Replenish Sanity
While your Sanity slowly replenishes over time, you can recover it quickly by spending Origeometry or Emergency Sanity Boosters. The game makes this easy for you, as spending these items to replenish Sanity can easily be done within the Protocol Spaces. Players can also replenish their Sanity through the Sanity icon in the Main Menu.
While Emergency Sanity Boosters are on the rarer side, players will consistently get Origeometry by completing quests. I have found that I have constantly been able to refill my Sanity due to the amount of Origeometry I have in stock, so you shouldn’t have to worry about that.
How to Increase Max Sanity
Upgrading your Sanity limit is as easy as raising your Authority Level. Each time you reach a higher Authority Level, you will increase your max Sanity, up to a certain limit. For example, players start with a max Sanity of 125, but can increase it to a total of 360.
Having a higher amount of Sanity will allow you to earn more rewards and complete more combat challenges in Protocol Spaces. However, keep in mind that Protocol Spaces can begin to get really challenging, and each has a recommended level.
Upgrading your Sanity is definitely nice, but it shouldn’t be a main concern of yours since it’s easy to replenish. Considering that players recover Sanity over time, as mentioned before, logging off of Arknights: Endfield and coming back to play the next day will result in you having enough Sanity for a couple of hours, even if the max cap is on the lower end.
