Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Is Less Than Four Months Away
Despite being delayed, Assassin's Creed fans reportedly won't have to wait much longer to play Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced.
Some of the most notable changes to Black Flag are to its ground combat, which is more akin to the parry-focused system seen in Assassin's Creed: Shadows, as well as to its supplementary content, with the removal of Black Flag's original PvP multiplayer and expansive Freedom Cry and Aveline DLCs.
While the removal of these features may upset fans, Ubisoft aims to rectify those absences by adding a ton of brand-new content to
Black Flag's world and story, which may be best represented by the addition of three new integral companions to Kenway's pirate crew.
The Jackdaw's New Officers and Other New Additions
As players embody Kenway on his swashbuckling adventures aboard his trusty brig ship, the Jackdaw, they'll encounter three brand-new characters to Black Flag's story who can be recruited to become officers aboard the Jackdaw.
These new companions include:
- Lucy Baldwin
- The Padre
- Tobias "Deadman" Smith
Each of these officers has their own dedicated questlines tied to them that will gradually reveal their backstory and eventually result in them joining Kenway as a part of his crew.
Once recruited, these characters will be able to grant the Jackdaw special abilities in naval combat, such as The Padre enabling the ship to Ram-Dash opponents and Smith enabling broadside cannons to fire twice per salvo.
youtube.com/@ubisoftAnne Bonny, a character from the original Black Flag, will also serve an officer role during naval combat, though her unique abilities are currently unknown, and it's likely that Kenway's first quartermaster, Adewale, will also serve a temporary officer role in Resynced.
These officers won't be the only new crew members to board the Jackdaw this time around, as players will additionally be able to tame or purchase pets such as cats and monkeys to sit near the ship's wheel to boost player and crew morale, similar to the pets seen in Skull and Bones.
Other characters from the original Black Flag story, such as Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, and Caroline Scott-Kenway, will also receive brand-new quests and storylines to expand Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's narrative.
Some of the most notable changes to Black Flag are to its ground combat, which is more akin to the parry-focused system seen in Assassin's Creed Shadows
It can additionally be expected that new characters will be introduced in Resynced's new modern-day segments, as Ubisoft Singapore has completely changed Black Flag's original modern-day plot for this remake.
According to Resynced's Creative Director, Paul Fu, "For Black Flag Resynced, we have approached [the modern day] in a way that focuses on Edward's journey while still connecting his memories to the Animus. The modern-day rifts in Black Flag Resynced will feature new moments that focus on Edward's internal struggles."
