Everything Fans Can Expect To See From Assassin's Creed in 2026
Fans of the long-running Assassin's Creed series can expect a ton of new content to debut in 2026 from games to books.
First announced in 2022, Codename Hexe will take place in the Holy Roman Empire during the witch trials, and one leaker claims Ubisoft is toning down the level of magic in the game and has even removed a controllable cat companion.
Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe Takes Grounded Approach to Witchcraft
According to reports, the development team currently working on Hexe was recently scaled back, as 50 developers were moved to Ubisoft's Interproject team, but the game is still aiming for launch in June 2027.
While there's still not a ton of information about Hexe, Ubisoft leaker J0nathon recently posted on X, claiming that "Since Jean Guesdon took over the Assassin's Creed franchise in February, he decided to remove everything 'magical' from Hexe."
The protagonist will reportedly be taking a grounded approach to witchcraft and will utilize alchemy in place of magic spells, but this information hasn't been confirmed, so only time will tell what degree of magic and fantasy players will experience.
This could be Ubisoft's way of avoiding the same type of backlash from the divisive, and somewhat controversial, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, and focus solely on highlighting the gameplay mechanics that made fans fall in love with the series in the first place.

While we wait for more information about Codename Hexe, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is next in line, and will be launching on July 9th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Black Flag Resynced will feature upgraded gameplay, updated graphics, and new storylines for characters such as Stede Bonnet and Blackbear.
