Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).

If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.

Here’s some very happy news for Baldur’s Gate 3 fans: it seems we’ll be getting another delicious bite of Astarion sooner than we imagined!

Larian Studios has just announced that the game's universe is expanding into a new medium, as the studio closed a partnership with Wizards of the Coast and some book publishers for an exciting collaboration that will surely please vampire fans, collectors, and those passionate about the game's lore.

From Prequels to Cookbooks

According to official information (thanks, Polygon), the collaboration will feature four books in total, each offering a very different experience – all of which you can check out in the cover gallery above!

The first one is Baldur’s Gate 3: Astarion, a novel that serves as a prequel to Astarion’s personal story, taking place before the events of the 2023 game. It will showcase his years of servitude under the vampire lord Cazador Szarr, so we already know we can expect to see a more vulnerable side of this fan-favorite character.

The story is written by acclaimed fantasy author T. Kingfisher, with consultation from the game's senior writer Stephen Rooney, and is set to hit stores on September 29. But that’s not all! There will also be an audiobook version published by Penguin Random House Audio, narrated by Neil Newbon himself, the voice of Astarion in the original title.

Moving to the next chapter of this collaboration, we have Baldur’s Gate 3: The Necromancy of Thay, which is a commemorative item destined for collectors. It is a blank notebook that faithfully reproduces the Necromancy of Thay, one of the most iconic books from the game.

It perfectly recreates the screaming embossed skull on the cover, featuring foil stamping and illustrated “clasps” to avoid its unholy contents from getting out that easily. This haunted baby is scheduled for release on July 21.

The third and fourth projects are a coloring book and a cookbook, which I’m sure you’re as itching to buy as I am! Entitled The Official Baldur's Gate 3 Coloring Book and published by Ten Speed Press, it features illustrations by Jaki King with characters, settings, and creatures from the game for you to color however you like. This one arrives later in the summer, though an exact date hasn't been set yet.

Finally, A Feast for a Tenday: The Official Baldur’s Gate Cookbook is written by Andrew Wheeler and promises to whet every fan's appetite with 65 different recipes organized by course and camp location. You can definitely expect recipes to impress your date – after all, a game as full of romance as Baldur’s Gate 3 wouldn't leave that aside! The release date for the lovely cookbook is November 3.

To wrap things up, Larian Studios hinted that they might not stop there, with more plans to expand this idea of literary adaptations for 2027 and beyond for the highly acclaimed RPG.
