Battlefield 6 Season 2 is bringing back everyone's favorite vehicle: the Little Bird

Battlefield 6 is considered to be a thematic successor to Battlefield 3 and 4, and while it achieves that in many ways, fans felt like something was missing on launch: the Little Bird helicopter. Well, Battlefield Studios has listened, because the AH-6 Little Bird is making a return at the start of Season 2, on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

"The AH-6 Little Bird is returning, and will be available across a variety of maps," X revealed in a press-only presentation for Season 2. "We look forward to seeing just how much chaos you skilled pilots out there will inflict with it." It's worth noting that the Little Bird was available at launch exclusively in Battlefield 6's Portal mode, but was removed after a short while.

Alongside the Little Bird at the launch of Season 2, Contaminated is a brand-new map, set in an airbase at the foot of a German mountain range. Size-wise, it "falls between Eastwood and Mirak Valley," according to a Battlefield Labs blog post, and "is comparable to classic Battlefield maps such as St. Quentin Scar or Arras." One thing's for certain: it looks incredibly vibrant, with nary a cloud in the bright blue sky, and plenty of greenery and foliage.

Meanwhile, VL-7 Strike is a new limited time mode that utilizes hallucinogenic gas at various locations throughout the map. Players can equip a gas mask to negate the "visual and auditory hallucinogenic effects" because otherwise, the gas can "put you and your squad at a terrifying disadvantage."

All of these additions, alongside four new weapons, two new gadgets, and two limited-time Battlefield Redsec modes, come as part of the "Extreme Measures" phase of Season 2. That then becomes "Nightfall" on Tuesday, Mar. 17, which adds another new map in the form of Hagental Base. This one is set near the same mountain range as Contaminated, and features a "subterranean structure" where you'll engage in "intense firefights, or use the shadows to set up deadly ambushes."

A "remixed version" of Hagental Base is coming during this phase too, where a large part of the map will be almost entirely in the dark. "Precision, caution, and strategy are vital to survival," and all players will be able to equip night vision goggles, although they're countered by flashlights on weapons. Nightfall will also feature in the Gauntlet mode of Redsec on the same map, and a dirt bike will be coming to the entirety of Battlefield 6, which should lead to some epic stunts and highlights.

Finally, Tuesday, Apr. 14 will see the third phase of Season 2 begin, called "Hunter/Prey." Operation Augur is the headliner here, which is inspired by the Operations mode in Battlefield 1. This focuses on both Contaminated and Hagental Base, where NATO forces advance on the underground structure, using VL-7 gas to do so.
