Ethan Krieger (He/Him) is an editor at DualShockers that got started in the writing industry by covering professional basketball for a sports network. Despite being a diehard sports fan (mainly formula one, basketball, American football, and golf), video games have always been his #1 interest.
Last month, we were able to loop you in about GGMods, a new community-driven hub for modders, both creators and enjoyers alike. Any platform like this that empowers and encourages community and agency within the scene is a welcome addition to the party, so it's great to see what the GGMods portal is already growing into.

In addition to news about the website in general, GGMods also revealed their Spring 2026 Modathon, an exciting event being held on ggmods.com where creators can create and submit new mods to the GGMods catalog with the promise of cash prizes going to certain creators during this time span.
The Modathon is broken up into themed weeks from now until May 11, so if you'd like to jump into the action, we're now happy to share which games made the cut, what the themes are and how the money will be awarded to the winners.
Spring 2026 Modathon Games Revealed
The Spring Madness GGMods Modathon is focusing on five games, which means if you want to be eligible for prizes, you must create and submit your mods for the chosen titles. To determine these selections, GGMods went with the top five titles with the highest number of user submissions over the last several weeks. These were the winners:
- The Sims 4
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
- Fallout 4
- Fallout: New Vegas
- Stardew Valley
If you're someone that already creates mods for these games, this is surely music to your ears. If not, well, there's no better time than now to get in on the action!
Themes and Timelines for Each Week of the Modathon
Okay, so we know which games you can create content for to be eligible for the GGMods Spring Madness Modathon, but what are the themes that you need to adhere to in order to have the best chance of winning a cash prize?
Here's the theme breakdown (descriptions taken directly from GGMods for clarity):
- Farming Season (April 13 - April 20): Mods to do with growth, harvest, or farming mechanics.
- Monster Mayhem (April 20 - April 27): Mods that introduce new enemies, boss fights, combat, or even interesting new romance options…?
- Spring Cleaning (April 27 - May 4): Mods focused on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, or general spring-themed mods.
- Fae and Folklore (May 4 - May 11): Mods inspired by new and old folklore, mythological creatures and legend.
If you have any big ideas for mods built in any of the five chosen games for the Modathon, now's the time to show your stuff!
Cash Prizes Announced
Now to the really good part. GGMods is awarding weekly cash prizes to certain mods/creators during these themed weeks, so your efforts can end up being paid if you're able to come up with something particularly awesome.
Here's the prize breakdown:
The following prizes will be awarded to each of our five eligible games. This will be specifically updated once we reach launch and have the highest mod-count mods on GGMods.
Weekly Prizes:
$100 USD will be awarded per game every week, to the most thematic mod every week, following its weekly prompt. As decided by our Judges Panel.
A $50 Steam gift card will be awarded per game, every week to the most downloaded mod that week.
Grand Prize:
$1,000 USD will be awarded to the most downloaded mod submitted in each game during the 2026 Spring Madness Modathon.
For full rules and FAQs surrounding eligibility and requirements, make sure you check out the info page that GGMods has live on their website right now.
Most importantly, mods must be new and submitted during the timeframe of the Modathon in order to be eligible, and must be submitted before the weekly theme deadline if you'd like to be considered for a certain category.
How to Enter the Modathon
Are you ready to enter? Great! Thankfully, GGMods has made this super easy as well.
In order to enter a mod for Spring Madness Modathon consideration, you simply need to upload it to GGMods while the Modathon is active, and also remember to tag it with "Spring Modathon 2026" to make sure it's seen as a Modathon submission.
That's all there is to it! This is a great opportunity to flex your mod muscles, create some awesome content for you and your fellow gamers, and perhaps take home some extra spending money for your efforts as well. Best of luck, modders!
