Coin Tavern is not your average tavern! In this roguelike game, you’ll wield a wild array of quirky coins to build your one-of-a-kind coin deck.

Hoard coins, refine strategies, streamline your deck, unlock hidden treasures, and land outrageous combos in randomized runs! This is a roguelike centered around coin-tossing. Navigate a chaotic tavern to collect a variety of unique coins, combine them into synergistic builds, and unleash devastating Combos. The full version adds a significant number of new coins (and a whole additional “race”), new relics, Quality of Life changes (including a per-round scoring tally for all of your coins to identify top/bottom performers, and better visibility for when coins are added or destroyed during a round), a series of themed scenarios, and custom scenarios where players can choose their own coin pool.
There are also a number of balance changes since the demo version from May (it’s unclear whether these were backported to the current demo version). The themed scenarios restrict the coins and relics available to provide distinctive and thematic strategic possibilities, but don’t fundamentally alter the mechanics of Coin Tavern (perhaps a missed opportunity). Some of the English translations can be unclear or clunky (the “LookUp” keyword is still confusing). At times it’s unclear how exactly a mechanic works or how it interacts with others (the +1 jump on landing gem, for instance).
But generally, it’s possible to figure out how things work. Progression is unfortunately pretty linear. Players have to clear difficulties 1 and 2 of the previous stage before unlocking the next one in Coin Tavern. This locks the custom scenario modes behind around 5 hours of playtime. Even with extensive experience from the demo, the lower difficulty tiers are easy to clear, but even at max 4x speed it still takes time to finish a clearly won run.
A suggestion for the developers would be to 1. add the option for players to skip the difficulty progression and unlock all difficulties and scenarios from the start; and/or 2. give the option to end a run once enough score has been accumulated to clear all remaining targets at Coin Tavern (rather than requiring players to continue through the remaining rounds). For example, on Stage 10/10, Round 2/10, after already reaching the score target, it would be nice to end the run immediately if there’s no intention of continuing into Endless, rather than clicking through the remaining eight rounds.
