By this point, many gamers probably trust whatever Remedy is cooking based on pedigree alone. But it's nice to see what the studio has in store for fans in the upcoming Control Resonant all the same. Here's your first look at what you'll actually be doing in Control Resonant.

Though we had only received teases before, we knew that Control Resonant was going to be an action thriller where players explore a haunted version of Manhattan. The city has been overtaken by supernatural cosmic deities, and it's up to protagonist Dylan Faden to figure out how to exorcise them.

The brief gameplay clip shows Faden flipping the world on its side to fight on the side of skyscrapers. Enemies can alter reality, but Faden can bend gravity to his will. He also makes use of a weapon called the Aberrant, which transforms depending on the threat at hand. During the footage, we see the Aberrant fluidly change from a mighty hammer to a tricky set of daggers.

Faden's bounty is the Hiss, an invasive microorganism, as well as a paranatural entity referred to as the Mold. Faden might be able to kill these borderline theoretical adversaries, but the real question is whether he can retain his humanity. After all, these creatures can bend and break the environment in ways that defy nature. Remedy is calling it a "geophysical nightmare" that "defiles" everything it touches.
