D-topia PC (Tenoke-Final)

As the newest Facilitator, it’s up to you to solve puzzles to keep the D-topia residents happy and the facility running. The Utopia Project was created in the interest of maximizing human happiness and comfort. As the newest residential Facilitator at D-topia, your role is to resolve issues around the residential community. Tackle fun logic-based puzzles to resolve mechanical issues and keep the facilities running smoothly and meet the many vibrant residents, each with their own unique story and personal struggle. But what happens when problems go beyond the mechanical? How will your choices impact the wellbeing of the residents, and the future of humanity?

In a world of curated happiness, what does it mean to find purpose? The nonchalant vibes of this game’s far-flung future are both cozy and melancholic. Sometimes, the story pulls back the curtain on the dystopia, but as things progress, utopia and dystopia become ambiguous concepts. It makes you think without overthinking. Dialogue is very concise, exploring plausible sci-fi issues without getting bogged down by overexplaining. Talking to every NPC is highly recommended to fully appreciate the game; there’s a lot of new text in nearly every moment, helping illustrate the variety of sentiments and perspectives throughout the population.

But again, it’s concise—stuff to nibble on. Speaking of nibbling, the puzzle component is similar. Puzzles are simple and easy to solve, though the game consistently introduces new rules, so they stay fun regardless. Besides the NPCs mentioned, it’s worth wandering around to find optional puzzles in D-topia, where the difficulty scales up. The few slider interactions could’ve been expanded to be more engaging, but for the most part the variety is satisfying. Throughout the story, choices ultimately lead to a happy, normal, or bad ending.

The happy ending is satisfying, though it’s worth wondering whether the other paths tackle the themes from different angles. The choices get a bit tougher later on, but the best possible outcome is usually the natural choice when available. Other players may see things differently at D-topia. Separate from those critical decisions, characters have an “affinity” bar that fills naturally and depending on dialogue choices, letting relationships grow and revealing more about them. Only one character’s affinity was fully maxed. The entire cast is interesting, giving another reason to keep playing.
