Dave The Divers In The Jungle DLC Is The Games Largest Story Expansion Yet

Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).

If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.

In the Jungle is the next story expansion for the highly acclaimed Dave the Diver that was originally announced back at The Game Awards 2024. But, since then, we haven’t received any further updates on the matter.

However, all this waiting ends today! This Friday, developer Mintrocket shared an all-new “Dev Dive” vlog that offers a deep dive into the upcoming DLC. And it appears to be the most ambitious additional content for the game to date, marking a new chapter in the journey of our beloved Dave as he continues to balance his two jobs to pay the bills.

A Massive Expansion with New Systems

A Massive Expansion with New Systems

For starters, in a press release, the developers revealed that the In the Jungle DLC will feature approximately 10 hours of content – which is a substantial addition, representing about 40% of the main story’s length by comparison.

The expansion also introduces significant changes, with surprising mechanics and systems that branch away from the base game. This time, Dave heads into freshwater in a brand-new location filled with new faces. So let’s break down exactly what players can expect from this journey!

The biggest addition is Utara, a jungle village where time flows in real-time. The village is populated with characters that can become friends or even customers, depending on how you build your relationship with them. This means an entire set of brand-new tasks, side quests, and minigames that Mintrocket promises will offer “deep rewards”.

Sometimes, you don't need to embark on an epic adventure to save the world.

To complement the new setting, a new restaurant will be added as a vital link: the Bancho Grill. It features a different system than the classic Bancho Sushi, allowing players to move freely throughout the space to serve customers across multiple areas (finally!), rather than being limited to a single horizontal plane.

Oh, and the exploration side of Dave the Diver is also getting some upgrades. The DLC is packed with new, exotic aquatic life (maybe even some dinosaurs…), more dangers, and a versatile new tool: the Jungle Gun. This weapon can freely transform itself into net guns, shotguns, snipers, or regular guns, giving players the freedom to choose their preferred combat style.

You can check a sneak peek at all of that in its newest trailer right below:

Last but not least, Mintrocket took the opportunity to make an extra announcement: a mobile version of Dave the Diver is currently in development and is described as a “fully optimized and redesigned [edition] to perform seamlessly on mobile”, being no mere port.

And the best part of it is that the mobile version is scheduled to launch pretty soon in China first, with a global release following later in 2026. Time to fish and sell fish while waiting for your doctor’s appointment!
