The hall-of-fame series, Fable, is making its return in spectacular fashion as the reboot of the beloved franchise is now slated to arrive on February 23rd, 2027. Even after multiple delays, the Fable hype-train isn't slowing down even a little, as the collector's edition of the game has already sold out.
Fable Reboot Gets Stamp of Approval From Original Creator
Peter Molyneux praises Fable reboot despite the world feeling "slightly antiseptic".
For the die-hard Fable fans eager to explore Albion once again, and the new players excited to experience the magic of one of the best RPG's ever created, the premium edition of the game is still available and will allow you to jump in five days early, and it also comes with some pretty awesome in-game rewards, cosmetics, and a post-launch expansion.
Fable's Premium Edition Includes Early-Access and DLC
Developed by Playground Games, the Fable reboot stays true to the original games as every choice you make throughout your journey matters, giving gamers the ability to build any reputation they desire. Will you be the kind soul who helps everyone in need? Or the chaotic-evil type who seeks only mayhem?
That's the beauty of Fable; the world is yours to mold, and anything can happen. The Fable reboot's morality system differs from the originals, though, as your character's appearance will not change based on your morality. In the older games, if you were consistently carrying out acts of violence or being mischievous in a plethora of ways, your character would eventually grow horns, instantly signaling to everyone around you that you're a bad apple.
Playground Games is taking a different approach to the morality system, as your character won't develop any visual indicators of your moral compass, and this was done purposely to allow players to have different reputations in different areas.
In an interview with IGN earlier in the year, Playground Games Founder, Ralph Fulton, gave further insight into why they decided to try something new with the morality system. "You build reputation based on the settlement, the town, the city that you're in, the part of the world that you're in. But when you go to a new place, a place you've never been to before, you walk in without any reputation and thus nobody knows what to think about you. And you can almost, through your behavior, through your choices, form completely different reputations, a completely different identity, if you like, in that place from the place that you were last time. And you can do that across all the locations in the game.”
While some Fable fanatics will surely be sad they won't be able to grow a sturdy pair of horns by terrorizing the citizens of Albion, this new twist on the morality system will allow players to build a positive, lawful reputation in certain cities, while becoming the most-feared villain in other locations.
Will you be the kind soul who helps everyone in need? Or the chaotic-evil type who seeks only mayhem?
If you're pondering purchasing Fable's premium edition, this is what's included:
- Fable base game
- Fable digital art book and soundtrack
- Post-launch story-driven expansion featuring a new region (Fable: Order of the Hero)
- Premium edition content pack: two armor sets and nine in-game items that can be gifted to Albion's NPCs.
- Pre-order content pack: the infamous Chicken Suit, as well as in-game gift items.
Fable Reboot Looks Very Promising
After delaying the game to avoid the bombardment of game releases scattered throughout the Fall, including Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and of course, GTA 6, Fable now has the time to add that extra layer of polish and make this game everything Fable fans have been dreaming of.
From the gameplay footage we've seen so far, and the details that have emerged about the morality system, it's easy to say Fable will be one of the shining stars of 2027, even with GTA 6 on the horizon, because not only is there an enthusiastic fanbase of veteran Fable fans ready to jump back into Albion, a new generation will get the opportunity to see why the world loves Fable first-hand.
