If you’ve played Deltarune before, chances are you’re more than aware of the NPCs that you can recruit over the course of your adventure… unless you’ve defeated them all.

Being a pacifist, you have the chance to ACT instead of fight, and spare your enemies, adding them to the ever-growing roster of recruits. Specifically, in Chapter 5, you’ll be able to find these recruits sitting at the tables in the Café section of the Castle.

It's time for some Kitty-cat craziness!

Luckily, there are only 8 of these to find, all of which can be recruited over the course of the main storyline, so don’t worry about missing them. Let’s take a look at each one and where you’ll come across them.

Floradinn

Deltarune Floradinn

Does this flowery fellow seem familiar? Well, this is a variation of the classic Rudinn enemy, and you’ll find a bunch of them in the beginning Garden area of Chapter 5. In total, you’ll need to recruit 2 of them.

In battle, Floradinn can use a couple of attacks:

  • Spiked petals will shoot out from the top of the battle area targeting you.
  • Floradinn will shoot out a flower, which will burst into smaller petals upon reaching the combat area.

Simply use the flatter ACT to increase mercy by 60% and Flirt with Susie to end the battle quickly and recruit both Floradinns.

Sheary

Deltarune Sheary

Later on, in the Garden, you’ll come across some of the Sheary enemies near the scissor-cutting puzzle. Similarly to the Floradinn, you’ll need to recruit 2 of these enemies in total.

In terms of attacks, Sheary will use the following:

  • The battle area will split in half, while scissors snip across the area. You’ll need to dodge the scissors, being careful to take into account how your position shifts when crossing the split area.

Acting with Susie and Ralsei will begin a little mini-game, where you need to cut out specific shapes. The closer you cut via the dotted lines, the more Mercy you will gain upon completing the shape.

Netskie

Deltarune Netskie

Netskie are the fox enemies that you see throughout the entirety of Chapter 5. You’ll encounter a few of these throughout the chapter, but you only need to recruit 1 of them.

In battle, Netskie will use the following:

  • A paw will appear, which will proceed to shoot out sharp projectiles in a circle while 3 others will follow the direction of the paw.

When you act with Susie and Ralsei, you’ll be attacked again. However, this time you’ll need to pay attention to the projectile that Netskie uses. They might be in the shape of sharp Floradinn petals, bullets or little bunny things. You need to identify the projectile that looks different from normal, and intentionally run into them, granting 7% Mercy.

Leafling

Deltarune Leafling

These little floating leaf guys can be found upon entering the Cliffs area, and you’ll need to recruit a total of 2 of them. Often Leaflings will fall from the sky during platforming sections. You can either battle them or avoid them.

They will use 2 different attacks:

  • Leaves will begin to spawn, following the direction of the wind. You’ll need to weave in between them.
  • They can also shoot a bundle of leaves which will explode outwards.

To recruit them, you can make them tired with Susie, or blow them away with Ralsei by mashing Z. Or if you have enough TP, use a Spin to grant 100% Mercy to all Leaflings.

Kawkaw

Deltarune Kawkaw

You’ll find this NPC before the Shop area of the Cliffs, and later, hiding in the wheat just east of the shop. You’ll need to recruit 2 of these.

In battle, the Kawkaw will use the following:

  • The Kawkaw will use its tongue to send out a bunch of spiky projectiles. If facing 2 of these, stay in the far corner to avoid these attacks.
  • They also have a feather attack, where feathers will drift to and fro, while falling down to the ground.

To recruit these, you’ll need to call them over. If you shoo them away, they will instead escape the battle. After calling them, you’ll be covered in spit, slowing you down and making the next attacks harder to dodge.

Shi

Deltarune Shi

Shi are the scarecrow-like enemies you’ll find near the Kawkaws. These are completely stationary. However, you’ll have to fight 3 of them at once when confronted by Seth. In total, you’ll need to recruit 4 of them.

These have the following moves:

  • Sometimes the Shi will stay completely still. You can move close to the scarecrow to gain some easy TP.
  • They have a far more difficult attack, where they will send out a projectile which spawns 4 large scythes.

You can ACT with Susie and Ralsei, which will spawn a little challenge for you. You'll need to time your key-press so that the figure slots exactly into the slot shown. This grants 100% Mercy.

Shinobeetle

Deltarune Shinobeetle

The Shinobeetle is first encountered when you enter the left side of the Castle. They will pop up from the ground and begin a fight with 2 of them. You need to recruit 3 in total.

They will use the following in combat:

  • Shinobeetle will spawn a bunch of flying beetles on the left and right side of the area. You can stay in the centre to avoid these.
  • In addition, the other beetle will throw out 3 shuriken at a time, so you'll need to dodge these while staying central.

All you can do here is Convince the Beetle and perform standard actions with Susie and Ralsei. However, as soon as 1 beetle is spared, the other will no longer fight you.

Terakota

Deltarune Terakota

The final enemy is a large Terracotta warrior that disguises itself among the other stationary statues. These can be found on the right side of the Castle. You only need to recruit 1 of these.

The Terakota can use a few different abilities:

  • It can spawn flowers which will explode into 5 petals.
  • Also, little trees can shoot up from the pots, growing and covering a large vertical area.
  • Finally, it can spawn little helicopter enemies that will drop projectiles beneath them.

To tackle the Terakota, you’ll need to use the Watering Can ACT with Susie and Ralsei. Here, you’ll need to use the can to fill each pot at the bottom of the area, until it’s entirely green, while avoiding attacks, of course. As soon as you fill the pots, the fight will be over.
