Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle may not be getting an Academy Awards nod this year (honors go to KPop Demon Hunter), but one of the highlight films of 2025 is still being celebrated in its native Japan, becoming the first anime to receive the IMAX treatment in the country. Although the film was released last Summer, Infinity Castle is returning to theaters in Japan with an extended 1.43:1 aspect ratio, which probably means fans are still a ways away from the film coming home to digital, and potentially even longer for it to hit streaming services.

Although the film will only be returning for one day in Japan on Feb. 6, Infinity Castle is still busy making history, and there’s no rush to bring it into fans' homes if audiences are still willing to see it theatrically. There’s even going to be a special fan event screening across 10 theaters in Japan on Jan. 24, where fans are encouraged to cosplay and cheer for their favorite characters, according to Demon Slayer’s official website.

If the Blu-ray and DVD release in Japan slips past Feb., it possibly means Infinity Castle won’t be hitting streaming or digital storefronts any time soon. That said, things could change quickly. The franchise is set to host an event at AnimeJapan 2026 later this March, which could finally give fans a much-needed update on what’s next for the Infinity Castle trilogy, whether that’s release dates for future films, plans for digital and streaming, or other surprises, like a television rendition of Infinity Castle similar to what happened with Mugen Train.

Months ago, Crunchyroll’s Mitchel Berger warned fans not to expect Infinity Castle on streaming in 2025, and he wasn’t kidding. Mugen Train didn’t arrive exclusively on Crunchyroll until June 22, 2021, a full eight months after its theatrical debut on October 16, 2020. With that timeline and the film’s initial release of July in mind, it’s very possible we’ll start hearing more about Infinity Castle heading to the platform as early as March.
