Disney Lorcana just revealed 32 new cards from Toy Story, The Incredibles, Brave, and more

Merida from Brave is the new chase card

In Disney Lorcana’s last set, Winterspell, Elsa tried to stop the invasive magical vine introduced in Whispers in the Well by freezing it solid — and failed. That creeping vine has continued to spread, pushing further out beyond the Great Illuminary into the uncharted territory of The Great Empty Sea presented in Wilds Unknown, the game’s next set scheduled for wide release on May 15. With it comes the game’s very first Pixar cards.

During a press preview last week, Ravensburger showcased 32 new cards, many of which were also revealed during an April 14 Lorecast. Most of the cards are from Wilds Unknown, but there were also a few select highlights from Attack of the Vine, the next set due out in July. Here’s a look:

Pixar reveals

Toy Story leads the charge in Wilds Unknown with Woody and Buzz Lightyear as the headliners.

Woody – Leader of the Toys is an amber hero that lets you check the top four cards of your deck for a “Toy” character (more on that later) or a location named Andy’s Room. Buzz Lightyear – Jungle Ranger is a powerful card with seven strength and five willpower with shift 5 (you can play it on top of another Buzz Lightyear at a cheaper cost). His entire kit leans heavily into action cards.

One of the most enticing card combos revealed is the Three Arrows action and Merida – Formidable Archer from Pixar’s Brave. When played, Merida allows you to return Three Arrows from your discard pile. And she adds two damage to any opposing character damage by one of your actions. Three Arrows is a three-cost action that deals two damage to one character and another one damage to another. So, when used together, that means Merida can dole out a lot more pain. Between Buzz and Merida, emerald-steel is looking like a very strong inktype combo.

Mr. Incredible and his family from The Incredibles also appear across multiple cards, including a two-card panorama featuring a battle against the Omnidroid. It’s a flashy, cinematic moment that makes it seem like Lorcana is getting more comfortable telling small, interconnected stories within its sets.

Dash Parr – Lava Runner appears as a four-cost amethyst card with Rush and a special ability called Record Time that’s basically an improved version of Rush, allowing him to quest the turn he’s played rather than just challenge.

New mechanics

“Toy” is a new Lorcana character classification which will allow players to build typal decks around that subtype. Obviously with Toy Story positioned as a major focus, there will be plenty of toys to choose from. But there are some notable inclusions that make a toy deck sound pretty interesting.

Pizza Planet – Spaceport is a two-cost location card, but toys get to move there for free. Whenever a character is challenged there, each opponent loses one lore — so it makes for a great home base for your toys.

Sid Phillips – Toy Surgeon (the creepy kid from Toy Story) is going to be an absolute powerhouse, especially in Wilds Unknown drafts where everybody at the table likely has toys in their decks. When played, you can banish one of your characters to force each opponent to also banish a character. And whenever a toy character is banished during your turn, you gain two lore.

Wilds Unknown also has a cycle of 12 traveler glimmer cards. Characters like Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty appear in the set alongside Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians and the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. There’s also Cinderella and Pocahontas as well. Each of these cards activates a special ability when they quest, if another character has been played that turn.

Wilds Unknown products

In addition to the usual booster packs with 12 cards per pack and the Illumineer’s Trove with six packs and other goodies, Wilds Unknown will also have a new kind of special pre-release kit.

Wilds Unknown introduces this new pre-release box format that’ll be released on May 8 at game store events. The box includes six booster packs alongside one of six randomized promo cards, one of three randomized collectible postcards, and themed dice. It’s a more curated experience than previous releases.

There’s also a new two-player starter set, built around a “toys vs. supers” theme and featuring characters from Toy Story and The Incredibles. Unlike previous starters, this one is described as an evergreen product, meaning it’ll stick around longer and serve as a consistent entry point for new players for about six months until Ravensburger releases a new two-player starter set. Jessie – Lively Cowgirl appears in that product, which has an MSRP of $29.99.

Premium cards

Dubbed “Lore Nouveau,” the set’s enchanted cards draw inspiration from Art Nouveau, with organic lines and shapes. The highest rarity cards in the set are iconic art variants for Buzz Lightyear – Jungle Ranger and Merida – Formidable Archer.

If you’re wondering why Woody and Buzz weren’t paired up for the two iconic cards, that’s because a special promo version of Woody – Jungle Guide will be the set championship reward.

The previously mentioned Dash Parr card is a buy-a-box promo. Among the weekly play promos are Lenny – Toy Binoculars, Zipper – Tiny Helper, and Will o’ the Wisp – Forest Spirit.

Lorcana roadmap after Wilds Unknown

“Danger is blossoming in the realm of Lorcana,” reads a tease for July’s Attack of the Vine! set. “Prune back the threat before it completely takes over!” It appears to be the culmination of this ongoing vine arc that’s been at the focus of the story for quite some time. Its prerelease begins on July 17 with a full launch on July 24. Monsters Inc. will make its Lorcana debut, and early promo imagery puts Mike, Sully, and Boo front and center.

With the launch of Attack of the Vine!, the game’s core constructed meta will sunset every set from the game’s second year, which means sets five through eight. That’s Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia’s Island, and Reign of Jafar. Those sets will still be legal in infinity game formats, but the shift will certainly reshape the competitive landscape.

In October, Ravensburger will also release a new Illumineer’s Quest called The Great Hunny Rescue for $59.99. It’s a standalone cooperative product where players team up to “weed out the threat.” Art features characters from 100 Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh kitted out as some kind of wizard wielding hunny magic.

A future set centered on Coco — titled Hyperia City — is also slated for later this year. And Ravensburger announced a set based on Onward for 2027. In other words, Pixar looks to be a major focus for the game in the next year.
