Disney is no stranger to bizarre crossovers or weird video games, but a rumored upcoming title might be the strangest of them all, as an extraction shooter in the style of ARC Raiders featuring Disney characters has leaked online.

In 2024, Disney invested a staggering $1.5 billion in Fortnite developer Epic Games, not only acquiring an equity stake but also entering into a multiyear deal involving media projects, specifically video games. Most assumed this would be connected to Fortnite in some way, especially considering the massive collaborations between Fortnite and the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years.

It seems that the Disney and Epic Games collaboration could soon bear fruit, but not in a way anyone expected. According to a new Bloomberg report, a team of Fortnite devs is making a Disney-themed extraction shooter. This game is set to launch in November 2026, assuming no delays.

Kingdom Hearts

So, how on earth could a Disney-themed ARC Raiders work? Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a bloody or intense affair. The Kingdom Hearts franchise has proven that Disney video games can feature fantasy violence and still receive an age rating acceptable for their target audience.

Disney loves making action versions of its existing characters and putting them in video games. Those who have played the Disney Mirrorverse have seen badass versions of the likes of Sulley from Monsters Inc and Woody from Toy Story going toe-to-toe with evil creatures.

The bigger question is whether anyone will care enough about a new extraction shooter, regardless of whether it features Disney characters. The success of ARC Raiders was the exception, not the rule, as the market is bloated with extraction shooters that shut down after not leaving an impression.

More importantly, this rumored Disney extraction shooter is going up against Grand Theft Auto 6, assuming both hit their release dates. If that happens, then no amount of Mickey Mouse magic will save the project.
