Dragon Quest VII Reimagined: All Mini Medal Locations

If you’re familiar with JRPGs, you know that every title loves to stuff our grand adventures with countless collectibles. And if you know Dragon Quest, you know that the most notorious of these are the Mini Medals.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined brings them back, but unlike previous entries, they are a bit easier to track down here. When you visit an area, the interface will actually notify you whether or not there is a Mini Medal nearby, so you aren't forced to scour every urn and wardrobe mindlessly.

Still, the game won’t tell you exactly where the medal is hiding. With that in mind, I’ve put together this guide showing every Mini Medal location in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined so you can find them effortlessly and reap the rewards when you hand them in.

Estard Castle - Level 2

The first Mini Medal is found within Estard Castle. Go to the second floor, then out to the balcony. Make a beeline for the next stairs going down and enter the king's chambers. You’ll find this Mini Medal in a drawer.

The Tower - Level 6 (Past)

Mini Medal #2

While ascending The Tower, you’ll necessarily pass through Level 6. Instead of taking the north path and staying on your merry way, go south until you reach a chest housing this Mini Medal.

Ballymolloy (Present)

Mini Medal #3

As soon as you make your first boat trip to the new island and return to Ballymolloy, look for a pot behind the church for this medal.

Estard Castle

After speaking with Dermot and taking the raft in search of a new fragment, don’t head into the castle dungeon just yet. Instead, walk along the grass outside near the drawbridge to find a pot with a Mini Medal.

Burnmont (Past)

Upon reaching Level 5 of Burnmont, you’ll need to jump down the middle crater. Once you reach Level 3, look for a chest in the southern corner and grab the Mini Medal within.

Emberdale: Inn (Present)

Enter the Inn in Emberdale in the present day and check the closet in the back room to find this one.

Burnmont (Present)

Return to Burnmont in the present day and jump down the center crater all the way to Level 1, where you fought the boss. The westernmost chest holds this Mini Medal. The others are still locked. Here's how to open all locked chests in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

Regenstein - Underground Level 1 (Past)

To teleport to Regenstein, you must find the optional Grey Fragment in Burnmont (Present). Once you do, you’ll encounter your first substory in the village. After completing it, you can access the underground level where Felix’s secret base is located. You’ll find this Mini Medal in one of the chests.

Unnamed Island (Regenstein Region - Present)

After completing the substory above, head back to the present and sail to the Unnamed Isle, just south of Pilchard Bay. This Mini Medal is a glittering sparkle located where the town of Regenstein used to be.

L’Arca: House (Past)

As soon as you enter the town of L’Arca, go into the first house to the east. You’ll find this Mini Medal inside a wardrobe.

Grotta del Sigillo - Level 5 (Past)

As you progress through the Grotta del Sigillo, you’ll find a passage leading outside of Level 4. Instead of taking that exit, head up the staircase to the northeast to reach Level 5 and find a chest with the medal.

L’Arca Region: Dock (Present)

In the present-day L’Arca Region, there is a new structure in the middle of the island called the Dock. Enter it and head to the wharf to break a barrel and find this Mini Medal.

Grotta del Sigillo (Present)

Your goal is to climb the Grotta del Sigillo again. When you reach the top level on the outside of the dungeon, instead of entering the cave where the boss's tomb is, keep climbing up to Level 5. There will be a chest there with the medal.

Institute of Automatry: Storeroom (Present)

When you arrive in the Frobisher Region in the present timeline, head to the Institute of Automatry and find this Mini Medal in one of the storeroom’s pots.

Central Frobisher (Present)

Still in the Frobisher Region, head to the village and enter the north door of the garrison. Wreak some havoc on the objects there to find this Mini Medal.

Automaton Stronghold - Level 1 (Present)

Now head to the Automaton Stronghold and enter. There will be two pots on the west side; one contains the Mini Medal and the other is a battle against an Urnexpected (fabulous name).

Pool of Piety (Present)

The Frobisher Region is being generous with us. If you cross the bridge to the east and enter the Pool of Piety, you’ll find a Mini Medal on the ground near a tree to the north.

Roamer Encampment (Past)

Upon arriving at the musical Roamer Encampment, head south to where a beautiful lady is standing on a rug and break one of the pots to get this medal.

Poolside Cave - Underground Level 2 (Past)

The main story will eventually lead you to the Poolside Cave. When you reach Underground Level 1, you can either take the stairs down or jump into one of the holes. A golden glint on the floor marks the location of this medal.

Dig Site (Present)

Sail to the present-day Roamer Encampment Region and notice the new area called the Dig Site in the east. Enter the tent (after paying the entrance fee), exit through the other side, and go down the well. The Mini Medal is inside the closet.

Roamer Encampment Region (Present)

This Mini Medal is found on a tiny island close to the Cape Overlooking the Ocean. If you Zoom to this area, your ship will spawn right beside it.

Pilgrim’s Rest (Past)

On your way to the long-awaited Alltrades Abbey, you’ll find Pilgrim’s Rest. Go behind the only building to break a barrel and claim this medal.

Pilgrim’s Perdition (Past)

Once you reach Pilgrim’s Perdition, go to the roof of the southernmost house and break the pot.

Western Cave - Level 2 (Past)

Your next destination after Pilgrim’s Perdition is the Western Cave dungeon. When you reach Level 2, open the chest in the southern section to find this medal.

Precipice Pass (Past)

As soon as you exit the Western Cave, you’ll reach Precipice Pass. Immediately head west to find a Mini Medal on the floor.

Dungeon of Descent - Underground Level 2 (Past)

After Precipice Pass, your destination is the Dungeon of Descent. Upon reaching Underground Level 2, continue south to find a small room where several monsters are seemingly on a coffee break. There is a pot in this room containing the Mini Medal.

Tunnel to the Abbey - Underground Level 2 (Past)

With the High Priestess in tow, you will pass through the Tunnel to the Abbey. In Underground Level 2, you’ll find a room with a massive number of urns. Break them all to find a Mini Medal inside one.

Alltrades Abbey - Basement Level 1 (Past)

Once the main event at Alltrades Abbey is wrapped up, head to the basement where all the doors will now be unlocked. On the west side, enter the door and exit through the other side. Brave the lightning floor to find a chest housing this Mini Medal.

Pilgrim’s Perdition (Past)

Zoom back to Pilgrim’s Perdition and enter the house to the north. Inside, you’ll find a Silver Fragment and, right next to it, a chest containing the wonderful Thief’s Key. Before leaving Pilgrim’s Perdition, however, open the chest to the southwest of the church to find this Mini Medal.

Pilchard Bay (Present)

Head back to your home sweet home and enter the item shop building. The locked chest there can now be opened to snag this Mini Medal.

Pilgrim’s Rest: Inn (Present)

While exploring the Alltrades Abbey region in the present, head to the inn at Pilgrim’s Rest to find a locked chest — now openable with your shiny new Thief’s Key — containing this Mini Medal.

Ruins Near Alltrades Abbey (Present)

Go to the ruins near Alltrades Abbey to find this Mini Medal on the ground next to a tree on the west side.

Bandit’s Base: Interior (Present)

After dealing with the ruffians in the ruins, head to the Bandit’s Base. You’ll find a locked cell with two chests. Grab the Bandit’s Key from a closet in the boss’s room and then open the door to find a Mini Medal inside one of the chests.

La Bravoure: Treasure House (Present)

Your next destination is the La Bravoure Region. Upon entering the city and witnessing the events with Honoré, you’ll need to follow him to the Treasure House. One of the chests there contains this Mini Medal.

Al-Balad: Storeroom - Basement Level 1 (Past)

With the conclusion of the events in Al-Balad, the Elder will allow you to take the treasures from the storeroom. Next to the Blue Fragment is an urn containing this medal.

Dig Site (Present)

If you follow the steps above, you’ll have the Care Package in hand. Return to the Dig Site in the present, enter the tent, exit the other side, and hand the package to the buff man there. He will clear the way, allowing you to break some urns and find this Mini Medal.

Temple Palace (Present)

Upon arriving at the Temple Palace in the current era, you’ll need to watch a few scenes. Once you can move freely, head to the initial temple area and smash an urn behind the building to get this one.

Roamer Encampment (Present)

After delivering the letter to Donald, you’ll need to go to the Roamer Encampment. One of the urns near a tree in the northwest houses a Mini Medal.

Temple Palace (Past)

Once the Roamer Encampment events are over, return to the Temple Palace of the past. Speak with the Queen outside, and she will mention a hidden chamber behind her own.

Go there and push the right-hand statue to reveal a staircase. Head down and treat yourself to the treasures available, including a Mini Medal.

Likeness of the Great Evil (Past)

Still in the Al-Balad Region, head to the Banks of the Nihil and speak with Hadid to raft to the Upper Reaches. You can access the Likeness of the Great Evil again and grab this medal from the chest on the right.

Wetlock: Waterway (Past)

Go behind the northwest house to find a staircase and hop on the raft. Navigate the waters eastward to enter the Waterway and find a Mini Medal in a lonely urn.

Hardlypool Region (Past)

Zoom to Highendreigh Tower to land outside and pick up the golden glint nearby to acquire this medal.

Wetlock: Treasure Room (Past)

After finishing the events at Highendreigh Tower, you’ll need to pick up a chest in the Wetlock treasure room. While you're there, smash the urn in that same room to find this Mini Medal.

Highendreigh Tower - Level 5 (Present)

Your lifelong adventure will eventually require you to ascend Highendreigh Tower once again. Once you reach Level 5, destroy an urn in the northeast corner.

Ruins West of Wilted Heart (Present)

After completing the first part of the Greenthumb Gardens events, you’ll need to head to a new island in the present timeline that appeared to the west of Emberdale.

This island, the present-day version of Greenthumb Gardens, is now called the Wilted Heart Region. If you walk to the west, you’ll find ruins containing an urn with this Mini Medal.

Cave Near Wilted Heart (Past)

This one is a bit off the beaten path, so bear with me. In the Wilted Heart Region, you can climb the mountain beside the village to reach the Regrette-Rien Convent. If you check the tombstones there, you’ll start the second part of this substory.

If you go back to the Shrine of Mysteries and teleport back to Greenthumb Gardens, you’ll notice two new areas: Wilted Heart and the Regrette-Rien Convent. This Mini Medal is inside a cave on the Mountain Path behind the Wilted Heart village.

La Bravoure: Cellar (Present)

Back to the main story. Your next destination is La Bravoure. After showing the Mermaid Moon to Colette, you’ll be taken to a cellar in the village where you can find this Mini Medal inside a chest.

Tombe de Héros Inconnus (Present)

With the carpet in hand, leave La Bravoure, hop on, crank up the Aladdin soundtrack, and fly to the Tombe de Héros Inconnus to the west of the isle. There’s an urn holding this Mini Medal inside.

Palazzo di Bulgio (Present)

Zoom to L’Arca, mount the carpet, and head north to find the Palazzo di Bulgio. Enter the mansion and head to the top floor to find the Magic Key inside a treasure chest. Grab the Mini Medal from the chest one floor below where you found the Magic Key.

Estard (Present)

Return to Estard and go to the second floor of the house between the Item Shop and Pike’s House. There is a chest with one more Mini Medal. We’re halfway there, adventurers!

Dig Site: Tent (Present)

Zoom to the Dig Site, enter the tent, and open the chest for another medal.

Likeness of the Great Spirit (Present)

Head to the Al-Balad Region and use your carpet to reach the Likeness of the Great Spirit on the west side of the region. Enter the sacred site and head up the stairs until you come out in front of the statue’s face. A Mini Medal rests to the left.

The Tallest Tower - Level 3 (Present)

Your adventure will eventually lead you to The Tallest Tower. As you climb, grab the chest in the center-north of Level 3 to find a medal of diminutive size.

The Tallest Tower - Level 7 (Present)

As you continue ascending the tower, you’ll find numerous stairs that eventually take you to the same place on Level 9. Once you reach Level 9, take the west stairs to go back down to Level 7 — a room filled with chests. This Mini Medal is inside the chest just south of the staircase going down.

Rucker Castle (Past)

Your closest destination in the Hubble Region is Rucker Castle. Once there, head down the well to grab this medal.

Mini Medal #56

In the main building of the Grand Conjuratorium, there is an isolated staircase in the center of a square structure. The in-game hint is that you need to "make a cross" to access it. Here’s how:

• Go outside the square and enter through the west entrance.
• Leave through the east exit.
• Enter through the north entrance.
• Leave through the south exit.

If you did everything correctly, a bridge will appear as you step out south. Head down the stairs to find this Mini Medal in the southern chest.

Vogograd (Present)

Ready to get five Mini Medals in one fell swoop? You need to finish the substories in the Vogograd Region until the island appears in present day.

Then, head to the graveyard and check the westernmost grave twice. It should belong to a Medal Detector. If you don't find them there, check the bookshelf in the woodcutter's house below the church.

Aeolus Vale (Past)

As you progress through Aeolus Vale, you’ll approach the east exit. Instead of heading out to the overworld, approach the edge of the building to trigger a prompt and jump down to two barrels; one contains a Mini Medal.

Custodians’ Camp: Well (Past)

On your way to the Sanctum, stop by the Custodians’ Camp. Check the well, fight the Well Wisher monster, and upon victory, head down. The Mini Medal is inside the first closet.

The Beacon (Past)

While ascending the dark tower known as The Beacon, head out via the southern exit on Level 3 to find a chest with this Mini Medal.

Buccanham Palace (Present)

You should have already found the Turquoise Fragment in past Buccanham Palace after moving a bookshelf. In the present, go to the eastern house in Buccanham and interact with the bookshelf on its side to find a button. This opens a path to the chest outside.

Den of the Dwarves - Basement Level 3 (Present)

Remember where you got the Glowmoss in the Den of the Dwarves? Go back there, all the way down to Level 3, to find a Mini Medal in its place.

Altar of Arrival (Past)

Upon arriving at the Altar of Arrival, before interacting with the main objective, head beneath the structure to find this Mini Medal on the floor.

Hardlypool Region (Present)

With the Skystone, your next destination is the Strange Shrine in the Hardlypool Region. Before entering, check the southeast corner of this hard-to-reach piece of land for a Mini Medal.

Dig Site (Present)

As you go further down into the Dig Site, you’ll find a teleporter on Level 3. Take it to find a chest with this one.

Cathedral of Light (Present)

On Basement Level 1 of the Cathedral of Light, you can find the Ultimate Key, which means we can now open every single locked chest in the game. Before you leave, open the southern cell to find an urn with a medal inside.

Estard Castle: Dungeon (Present)

When at Estard Castle, head down to the boathouse where you first got the raft and enter the dungeon by circling the moat. Enter one of the cells to find this Mini Medal in an urn.

Estard Castle: Treasure Room (Present)

This Mini Medal is inside a chest in the treasure room. If you can’t find the room, it’s down a staircase located just behind the first one you came across, south of the dining room.

Pilchard Bay: House (Present)

The Sea Dragon: Below Decks (Present)

Take the staircase to the northeast or southeast of the deck on The Sea Dragon to reach an area full of treasure. In the southernmost part, there is a cat eating fish on top of a shield. Interact with the feline to earn this Mini Medal.

Al-Balad: Elder's House (Present)

Temple Palace - Basement Level 1 (Present)

After talking to Queen Neferta, enter the door behind her and open the right-hand chest for a Mini Medal.

When you reach Basement Level 1 of the Hidden Pyramid, open the chest in the far northeast quadrant to get this medal.

Aeolus Vale: Praetor’s House (Present)

Ventus Tower - Level 6 (Present)

As you climb Ventus Tower, once you reach Level 5, you’ll see two staircases going up. Pick the eastern one to pop up right beside a chest with a Mini Medal.

Villa Priores: Church (Present)

I don’t even know how to give directions in this wacky place. Just enter all the buildings, and when you find the church, go to the second floor and destroy an urn.

King Scoober’s Domain (Present)

On Estard Island, you’ll notice a whirlpool to the southeast. Sail into it, and you’ll be teleported to King Scoober’s Domain. Head down the stairs and break some urns to find this Mini Medal.

Sunken Citadel (Present)

Open the left chest beside Gracos to get the Mini Medal. You may have to talk to him first if it’s still locked.

Hubble Castle: Dungeon (Present)

Head to Hubble Castle, enter the Earth Tower, and descend all the way into the dungeon to open the cells and smash some urns.

Nottagen Cavern - Underground Level 3 (Past)

To get this one, you must proceed through the Nottagen substory. First, go to the past and defeat the boss. Then, return to the present and visit the Nottagen region until your party prompts you to go back to the past.

Once back in the village, you’ll see monster vines attacking the people. You’ll be led to the Nottagen Cavern. When you reach Underground Level 3, pick the westernmost chest for this Mini Medal.

Nottagen (Present)

Okay, bear with me because this substory is a bit of a trek. You’ll have to go back and forth between the present and past a few times.

When all is said and done, Nottagen village will finally appear in today’s timeline. Go scour the tree behind the mansion to find this Mini Medal.

Wooded Hill (Present)

Since you’re already in the Nottagen Region, head to Wooded Hill and interact with the massive hole for another medal.

Rucker Region - Exposure Enclosure (Past)

When you gain access to the Exposure Enclosure, break one of the barrels to find a medal.

Cathedral of Blight (Present)

Start your descent into the Cathedral of Blight. When you reach Level 6, head out via the south exit. A Mini Medal awaits you on the floor.

Cathedral of Blight: Hellfire Hollow (Present)

The southernmost chest in the Hellfire Hollow houses this Mini Medal.

Cathedral of Blight: Chasm of Chaos (Present)

This Mini Medal is found in the southeast chest. If you finish the Wind dungeon first, you will be able to see all the bridges in this area.

Another World (Present)

As you delve deeper into the mysterious and dangerous Another World, the scenery will soon change, and you'll find yourself outside again. Keep going until you find a shiny spot next to a lonely fishing rod. It’s a Mini Medal, of course.

Another World - Level 3 (Present)

Now, instead of going toward the troll-occupied path, enter the nearest entrance to get into the Bandit’s Lair replica. You’ll find this Mini Medal inside a closet all the way up in the last room.

Another World: Shrine (Present)

After you defeat the mob boss in Another World, you can grab this Mini Medal from the chair behind them.

Yet Another World: Interior (Present)

This one is a bit out of the way because it’s in an optional area inside an already optional area. Your objective in Yet Another World is to press four buttons and light torches. However, in the dungeon found inside the well, you can move a lever in the northwest corner.

Doing so will open the doors of the inn and the house beside it in Fake Estard. Behind both doors is the Fire Spirit dungeon replica where, once again, you can find a lever in the northwest corner to open two more doors in Estard.

Back in the city, enter those doors to find the Water Spirit dungeon. This Mini Medal is inside the northern chest. And yes, there’s a lever here you should move too, close to the easternmost chest.

Yet Another World: Interior (Present)

If you’ve been fiddling with the levers in the previous dungeons, you’ll open the Item Shop door to another dungeon. Once inside, take the southeastern stairs going up. Then, walk across the moving platforms and jump down into the middle of the southwest one to fall into a cell with a chest containing this round medal.

Yet Another World: House of the Big Boss (Present)

You could have picked this one up earlier, but I saved it for last to make it more emblematic. After pressing every plate, you’ll open a new portal in the house on the docks. Go through, face four bosses, and finally, you’ll reach the house of the best among us. Behind him are two urns, one of which contains the 100th and final Mini Medal. Congratulations, medal hunter! Your quest is finally over.
