Dimension 20's Gladlands campaign wrapped up in February, but Dropout fans won't have to wait long for the next series. A cryptic teaser shared on Wednesday contains hints as to where the actual play show will go next.
The video, titled "Welcome to Purpee," is full of calming stock shots of nature and families enjoying time together. Watch it with the sound off, and you wouldn't think anything's amiss. The narration, however, tells a different tale.
A forest where "all them kids went missing last spring" is mentioned, and the importance of not going out after sundown is repeatedly emphasized. The teaser definitely gives off creepy Twin Peaks and Welcome to Night Vale — very different from Gladlands' emphasis on kindness and positivity.
Oh, and apparently the mayor of Purpee is a dog. "But, well, so are most politicians."
No cast members were announced, and a release date wasn't given, with the teaser just saying it'll be coming soon to Dropout. However, as fans pointed out on Reddit earlier this week, Dropout CEO Sam Reich may have already revealed who's visiting Purpee.
Commenters have said that during a recent Dropout Superfan Q&A, Reich gave away that the next Intrepid Heroes campaign would be set in a place called Purpee. The Intrepid Heroes are the six who helped start the Dimension 20 phenomenon: Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson, with Brennan Lee Mulligan serving as the GM. Together, they've starred in several campaigns and live shows, like Fantasy High, The Unsleeping City, and Cloudward, Ho!
While we wait for more information, you can catch up on past seasons of Dimension 20 on Dropout. The streamer's new 24/7 channel is, as of this writing, currently streaming Never Stop Blowing Up, if you want to dive in at random.
