Battlefield 6 Devs Seek To Emphasize Player Skill By Tweaking That Old FPS Bugbear, Aim Assist
Aim assist will always be a controversial gaming topic, and the Battlefield 6 devs hope to make it fair again.
Julian Gerighty, creative lead for The Division series, and Star Wars Outlaws, has left Ubisoft's studio, Massive Entertainment, and will now be joining Battlefield Studios—but what role he will take there is still unclear.
Julian Gerighty Starts New Adventure With Battlefield Team
Ubisoft posted on social media to make the announcement, and give Gerighty his flowers for his many years of hard work on The Division series, “While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive, and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come.”
According to VGC, Division veterans Yannick Banchereau and Mathias Karlson will continue as Creative Directors for The Division 2 and The Division 3, and Massive's Magnus Jansen will take the lead on The Division 2: Survivors.

Massive Entertainment reassures its fans that development on The Division's new content is still on track: “For our players, don’t worry, Agents. Our teams who built this world with Julian are still here, carrying it forward with an ambitious, unchanged commitment for the future with The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence and The Division 3.”
“While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive, and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come.”
Gerighty recently spoke about The Division 3 in the New Game+ Showcase 2026, where he said he believes the game will have a big impact on the industry, similar to Division 1.
In a post on X, Gerighty confirms the start of this new journey, “Agents! Quick update from the Base Of Operations: It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure.
The Division's future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on. Long live The Division and Godspeed!”
Ubisoft recently laid off over 70 developers, and Massive Entertainment announced a voluntary career transition program in October 2025, as part of a restructuring to focus their efforts on The Division franchise.
