Sword Art Online fans finally got their hands on a next-gen video game for the franchise with Echoes of Aincrad. The story is great, and the gameplay elements do a decent enough job of keeping you invested, even with the handful of typical grinding elements. One of them just so happens to be getting your hands on rare resources to craft gear pieces.

One of those rare crafting materials is the Crude Weapon Fragment, which you'll need to craft some early gear pieces in Echoes of Aincrad. And one of the most bothersome things about the game is how it never explicitly states where you can get your hands on this resource.

So that's exactly why this guide for Echoes of Aincrad will briefly cover how to get your hands on this material and target-farm it so you have enough to craft whatever gear piece you want back at the Smithy.

How To Find Crude Weapon Fragments in Echoes of Aincrad

Elite Enemies

The first of the two ways to efficiently farm Crude Weapon Fragment materials in Echoes of Aincrad is to defeat roaming elite-level enemies across the map while out on missions. These are recognizable by their high HP and the dramatic battle effect that plays whenever you engage them in battle while exploring.

To efficiently farm these enemies for materials, pick any checkpoint area on the map where they're close by. That way, you can reset the instance by resting at the Warp Point, which will spawn them again.

A lot of these enemies will sometimes be hidden among the pack of normal trash-fodder targets roaming the area. You can find a couple back-to-back in later quests, but I'd strongly recommend not treating these enemies as pushovers. In my experience, the Shrewman enemies can occasionally drop Crude Weapon Fragments, but again, this depends on RNG.

Ark Bosses and Quest Boss Fights

The other way to get Crude Weapon Fragments is via actual bosses that you can encounter in two ways here: first, the Ark statues. These are designated by the purple symbol on the map, and I strongly recommend doing them whenever possible, not only for the XP but also for the number of drops you can get from defeating them. And that's excluding the fact that these can unlock red magic sigils that hideaway treasure chests or shortcuts.

And finally, you're likely to get these materials and more easily from the major boss fights that await you at the end of main and side quests featured in the game. The bosses tend to drop a mixed assortment here, but it is definitely possible to get a Crude Weapon Fragment from them. If you're looking for surefire ways to get it, the elite enemies I mentioned above are obviously the better farming choice.

Where to Use Crude Weapon Fragments

In the towns, head to the Smithy and check the crafting section to see which gear pieces require Crude Weapon Fragments. These mainly include the torso gear pieces like the Soldier's Mail and the Tanned Leather Mail, both of which require 3x of this material, along with Iron Ingot and Iron Chunk.

If you're low on this resource, don't worry; just craft another gear piece to boost your DEF stat until you have enough materials to make these. But by mid-game, or after you clear the post-prologue quests, you should naturally have enough Crude Weapon Fragments to craft these gear pieces with ease.
