The cast for Alex Garland's live-action Elden Ring movie has been revealed, and while some of the names might ring familiar, it's lacking any huge stars. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as a property like Elden Ring is so vast and in-depth that it can be the perfect breeding ground for building new stars.
The problem with adapting any modern FromSoftware property is the lack of a main character, as the player is expected to build a blank slate defined by their combat abilities rather than personality. The exception to this is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which might be why it's receiving a screen adaptation before Elden Ring.

Rumors have been circulating about the casting for the Elden Ring movie, which has already entered production. The cast has now been confirmed by Geoff Keighley on Twitter/X, and there aren't any huge names in the bunch, though there are a few recognizable ones.
The Elden Ring Live-Action Movie Cast Has Been Revealed
For the most part, the cast of the Elden Ring movie is better defined by the franchises they've been in than by their current marquee value. Kit Conner was the voice of Pantalaimon in the awesome TV adaptation of His Dark Materials; Nick Offerman was Ron Swanson; Ben Winshaw is mostly a theatre person; Cailee Spaeny was in Alien: Romulus; and Jonathan Pryce was the High Sparrow in Game of Thrones.
The most exciting name for long-time FromSoftware fans might be Peter Serafinowicz, who played Mild-Mannered Pate in Dark Souls 2. There may be a slim chance that Brian Butterfield makes an appearance in The Lands Between.

Elden Ring isn't the only video game adaptation that doesn't rely on big names; the main cast of the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie also consists of newcomers, mostly because Link and Princess Zelda are young in the film.
A property like Elden Ring or The Legend of Zelda already has a baked-in audience that is interested in the franchise, so it's not like the studio needs to shell out for Tom Holland or Chris Pratt to play John Elden Ring. This means that younger up-and-coming actors can get a shot at the big time, while established character actors can bring their experience to the set.
