Nightfarer Remembrance Quests

Best Ofs

With the new Elden Ring Nightreign DLC comes two brand new Nightfarers. And with new warriors, you know what that means! New Remembrance quests!

And of course, these quests are going to have you trekking through the new DLC map, or rather, Shifting Earth, to find all those hidden secrets. If you’ve ever done any of the Remembrance quests before, you’ll know they’re not exactly obvious to figure out, and this one has some pretty random requirements thrown into the mix.

Elden Ring Nightreign: How To Play Undertaker

The Undertaker has appeared in Elden Ring Nightreign and is ready to fight the Night Lord.

So today, let’s take a look at the Quest in its entirety so you can grab some sweet relics and rewards and get back to exploring the new map!

How to Find the Undertaker

Elden Ring Nightreign Undertaker New

Once you’ve downloaded the new DLC content, you can head to the closed door where the small Jar Merchant used to sit and interact with it. You’ll be teleported to a boss plane where the Dreglord sits in all its terrible glory.

It doesn’t matter whether you die here; the DLC will continue all the same, so head back to the doorway that you interacted with and talk with the Undertaker, who can be found within. She will now be a playable character, and you can start unlocking her Memory Fragments.

At this point, start running expeditions with the Undertaker and make sure you beat the Nightlord at the end to unlock the first playable chapter. If you just want to complete this quest as quickly as possible, I would recommend simply fighting Gladius, as he’s the quickest and easiest to beat.

You don’t have to access the DLC map or fight the Balancers to earn new Fragments. Beating the normal bosses will work just fine.

Chapter 3 - The Nightfarer Nightmare

Once you begin the remembrance in Chapter 3, you will find yourself in front of the Iron Menial, who will almost immediately try and attack you. While you might think he’s your friend, you have no choice but to take him out.

As soon as he falls, the other Nightfarers will come to his aid and try to stop you.

  • First off, take out the Executor who stands in your way. Be wary of his parries. Slow, unpredictable attacks work well here.
  • Next up in the main expedition room, you’ll find the Guardian and the Recluse. The caster will stand back while the Guardian comes to you. Focus on the bird first, and drag him away from the Recluse’s line of sight.
  • Next up, you’ll have the Wylder to contend with. There’s no special method to beating him. Simply kite him around and jump attack to be safe. If you need more HP, use your Prayerful Strike Weapon Art for an easy boost.
  • Finally, once you proceed to the southwest room, the Raider will attack you. In addition, the Ironeye is invisible in this room and will attack you after a short while. Use your skill and your ultimate art here if it’s available. Watch out for Ironeye's Poison.

You don’t have to fight the Duchess or the Revenant here.

Elden Ring Nightreign Apology

Eventually, the Iron Menial will appear and speak with you. Give your apology, and exhaust the rest of his dialogue. At this point, you’ll see a little glowing purple spot on the wall. Smash it, and then choose to absorb the power of the night. A short cutscene will show the Undertaker drinking the liquid on the wall.

If you’re ever stuck in a Remembrance Quest, just open the map and look for the exclamation mark for a hint.

Elden Ring Nightreign Monocle Case

The Scholar will leave the room, and you need to go and find him. He can be found in the forest area, west of the main building. Speak with him and agree to his request. He will give you the Leather Monocle Case, which is a blue relic that you can equip with the following buffs:

  • Physical attacks boosted while assist effect from incantation is active for self
  • Extend Spell Duration
  • Physical Attack Up +2

At first, it might not be clear what the first effect means. Simply put, if you are buffed from an incantation, like Barrier of Gold, for example, it will boost your attack while it's active. Not obvious, I know…

Equip the relic, and then complete another expedition for the next set of Memory fragments.

Chapter 5 - The Search for the Scholar

Enter the next Remembrance section and meet with the Duchess in the Expedition chamber. You end up telling her nothing and are directed to go pray in the Chapel.

After offering prayer, near the altar, speak with the Iron Menial, located due west of the Expedition room. He will talk to you about the new Shifting Earth event, saying that the Scholar could be located there.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Shifting Earth: Great Hollow Guide

The Great Hollow is a Shifting Earth event in Elden Ring Nightreign that will make you rather confused.

Making sure that you’re still in the remembrance (fog around the edges of the screen), head off on a Balancer Expedition. If you’ve changed any Shifting Earth events, make sure that you change them back to the Great Hollow via the Collector Signboard.

I would recommend doing this solo, as the miniquest takes you quite out of the way. Remember, you don’t need to be victorious on this expedition; simply finish it. If you quit out after finding the Scholar, you’ll have to redo it.

  • Firstly, head to the large white castle in the far northeast of the map. You don’t need levels (unless you’re doing the expedition properly), as you can simply run past everything.
  • At the main entrance, instead of going inside, hug the west wall and run around to the far west of the building.
  • Jump up via the Spirit Spring, and enter the northern door on the roof.
  • Inside, and to the right, you’ll see a broken railing. Jump from this gap to the large white stone that’s hanging down from the roof.
  • Jump from the stone to the rafters and look for a broken gap in the wall. Watch out for the enemy with the crossbow, who can sometimes spawn on the rafters.
  • Head through this little corridor to find the Scholar. Interact with him, and you’ll obtain the Scholar’s Primal Core and 30,000 runes. Either finish the expedition or wait for it to end to return to the Roundtable Hold.

Afterwards, head over to the Chapel, where the Scholar will be waiting for you. He will give you the Night-Hued Glass and Bundled Paper. At this point, you can leave the remembrance, and you will earn the Undertaker's Chalice.

The Chalice has a Green Slot, a Yellow Slot, and a Universal Slot.

Chapter 6 - To Cast the Night Asunder

Upon reaching this point, you aren’t given a whole lot of clues as to how to proceed. But worry not. First, you need to go on an expedition against the Night Aspect and kill him as you normally would to finish the game.

When the screen turns white, you will find yourself outside the Roundtable Hold. Upon inspecting your inventory, you’ll also see that you have a dismembered finger in your consumables slot.

Head inside, up to the expedition room, and through to the long northern corridor where the figure is sitting. Before you interact with him, go into your inventory and discard the finger, throwing it on the ground nearby. The Undertaker will comment, “This will do… I’m sure”, if you’ve done this correctly.

Do not rush this! If you don’t discard the finger, or if you throw it in the wrong place, you will have to do the expedition all over again. So take your time. The above video shows the correct way of doing this.

At this point, skip the cutscene, and you’ll receive the final rewards of the Remembrance Quest.

Rewards and Outfits

Elden Ring Nightreign Undeertaker Outfit

For completing this chapter, you will obtain the Remembrance Costume for the Undertaker. It might not seem obvious, but if you inspect closely, she has the new necklace in this skin.

Additionally, you’ll receive the Glass Necklace, a Green Relic with the following bonuses:

  • Activating Ultimate Art increases attack power
  • Successive Attacks Boost Attack Power
  • Ultimate Art Auto Charge +3

If you equip the Undertaker’s Chalice from before, you can equip this relic, the Leather Monocle Case, and another strong Yellow Relic like the Evergoal one, with the free Stonesword key.

If you wish to unlock the other skins for the Undertaker, you’ll need to defeat the Dreglord first.
