Even after conquering a special place among the most acclaimed and award-winning games of the decade, it seems that FromSoftware simply refuses to slow down when it comes to the unforgiving universe of the Lands Between.

Elden Ring has kept players thoroughly enthralled for years, delivering an extensive gameplay loop packed with intricate secrets, terrifying bosses, rich lore, and plenty of unexpected pits for you to fall into and lose a bunch of Runes. Honestly, we’ve been so incredibly spoiled by FromSoftware’s luxury treatment that fans are always hungry for any excuse to jump back into the action and experiment with fresh playstyles.

Thankfully, the Japanese studio and Bandai Namco have just announced exactly when we can get our hands on a brand-new wave of content designed to expand our character builds – and it comes with a quite welcoming price tag that won't require maxing out your credit card.

Bridging the Next-Gen Hardware Gap

Elden Rings New DLC Comes With Friendly Price Tag 2

The publishers lifted the curtain on an upcoming minor expansion called the Tarnished Pack DLC. Striking a remarkably consumer-friendly tone in a recent blog post, the dev team confirmed that the incoming bundle will launch with a low price tag of just €4.99, with local regional storefront currencies scaling accordingly.

“The Tarnished Pack is a great way to add a fresh new experience to ELDEN RING,” the official statement reads. “If you’re looking for an excuse to play again or you’re embarking on the quest to become the Elden Lord for the very first time, check it out on your preferred digital store on August 28, 2026.”

This sudden injection of fresh content is arriving alongside some equally good news for the Nintendo Switch 2, as the unforgiving world of Elden Ring is making its debut on the portable hardware on that same date, arriving as the specialized Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. For players who have been dreaming of exploring Caelid or invading other worlds while hiding away in the bathroom (don't lie, I know you've done it) or during a long flight while traveling, this hybrid port is shaping up to be an important release this year.

Also, to ensure the new console version stands out, FromSoftware baked a handful of brand-new mechanical goodies and aesthetic rewards directly into the Switch 2's base package, which they made sure to heavily emphasize alongside the price reveal.

In fact, it was actually this next-gen port that birthed the Tarnished Pack DLC in the first place. Since the Switch 2 version was designed to include these fresh novelties, the developers wanted to ensure players on existing platforms (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC) wouldn't be left out in the cold. Therefore, they packaged these additions into a standalone DLC, a thoughtful move the publisher made sure to double down on during the announcement.

"All additional content included in the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of ELDEN RING can be purchased separately on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Digital PC under the name ‘Tarnished Pack’," the publisher's breakdown reads.

Now, for less than the price of a standard cup of coffee, the DLC will become available for all other platforms, bringing some notable role-playing value to the table. For instance, the bundle will introduce two completely new starting character classes to choose from when creating a fresh character: the Heavy Knight and the Idus Knight. Having access to unique starting attributes and gear setups is the absolute perfect excuse for veterans to kick off a new save file from scratch (and my backlog is already shaking with fear).

Beyond the tactical gameplay adjustments, fashion-forward Tarnished are getting a substantial upgrade with four new armor sets. Besides, the expansion delivers on a feature that players have been requesting since launch: three distinct customization skins for Torrent, your trusty spectral steed. So yeah, August is looking like the absolute perfect time to return to the Lands Between!
