Every Disney World in Kingdom Hearts 3, Ranked

If there is one thing that the Kingdom Hearts series is known for, it is the numerous Disney Worlds that you visit. That, and perhaps the never-ending pile of keyblades that get shown.

Every entry in the series has had multiple Disney worlds for you to visit, and each of these worlds typically has a problem that you need to help the protagonists of the world solve. Needless to say, Kingdom Hearts 3 is the same way, though it has noticeably fewer Disney worlds.

For the worlds that are there, however, not all of them are created equal, and some of them are much better than others, but where do they stand when compared to one another?

8 100 Acre Woods

Winnie the Pooh

It is sad to see that the 100 Acre Woods has fallen so low. Sure, it has always been an optional world, so it isn't like there needs to be much thought put into it, but it feels like it was the last thing on anyone's mind when creating Kingdom Hearts 3.

In the first game, the 100 Acre Woods world was tied into the main story as a smaller task you needed to complete, and the mini-games in the world were quite fun. This made it a great break from the normal Heartless-infested areas.

However, the mini-games in this world in Kingdom Hearts 3 are some of the worst in the series, and the story feels like an afterthought with how short it was. At least the art style was top tier.

7 Olympus

Hercules

The Hercules worlds have never been my favorite in any of the Kingdom Hearts games, and they appear a lot, but somehow the Olympus world in Kingdom Hearts 3 is my least favorite.

Most of them are longer worlds that are drawn out, giving you bigger fights and a reason for Hercules to need your help, whether it be that he feels like he isn't a hero, or that he lost his power, or something else.

The reason for your jump into Olympus is mostly to go through a tutorial, and you are out of there pretty fast. I give some credit though, because I did enjoy kicking the butts of all the Titans at once.

6 Arendelle

Frozen

If there is a world that people compare to Atlantica in the original game, it is Arendelle in Kingdom Hearts 3, and you don't even get to play a mini-game to hear the song. This world felt rushed, and like the story was changed halfway through production.

The world itself is pretty good, aside from the sliding mini-game, but the story is where everything falls apart. It felt like the world was setting up Elsa to be the villain, but then the rug is pulled out to follow the exact story from the movie.

It felt like Elsa was going to be corrupted, and then Hanz appeared as the villain out of nowhere without any real setup, and having to watch a full cutscene of Elsa singing Let It Go was frustrating since it wasn't interactive at all.

5 Kingdom of Corona

Tangled

I am not opposed to Square Enix using the same plot from the movie in Kingdom Hearts 3. After all, it has happened in multiple worlds, but there are usually slight changes. However, the Kingdom of Corona world doesn't have these changes.

You play through the story of Tangled beat-by-beat to the end. However, the world is much better than Arendelle, as it has some beautiful scenery, and the juxtaposition of the Heartless and Nobodies in such a beautiful world is nice.

Additionally, I like the dance mini-game that takes place in the kingdom, as it had a charming appeal to it that enhanced the world for me.

4 Sanfransokyo

A Bit Lacking

I love the movie Big Hero 6. When it came out, I thought it was one of the better Disney 3D animated films. However, when it comes to Kingdom Hearts 3, the team kind of dropped the ball when designing Sanfransokyo.

The world is fun, and exploring the city has a bit of charm to it, but it ultimately feels a bit flat and repetitive instead of full of life. There aren't citizens who are cowering in fear of the Heartless. Instead, it's almost like the world is a diorama and you are the only moving part.

Despite the issue I have with design, it was nice seeing the characters again, and the story had a different tone than the movie, making it stand out a bit more.

3 Monstropolis

Monsters Inc.

Monsters, Inc is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies of all time, so needless to say, I was excited to jump into this world for the first time in Kingdom Hearts 3, and I may be a little biased when it comes to this world.

Exploring the factory is fun, and fighting the enemies while powering up the doors with Boo's laughter was amusing. The rail-sliding sequences were also quite a fantastic time, as dashing my way through the doors was a blast.

However, the main downside of this world is that it often feels repetitive, with Mike and Sully explaining that we need laughter to open the doors. It is a world that has a strong opener, but it loses momentum after a bit. I still found it very enjoyable though.

2 Toy Box

Andy's Room Finally Exists

I had waited ages for Toy Story to finally make an appearance in Kingdom Hearts, and I was not disappointed by how the world turned out. You start off in Andy's Room before heading outside and then making your way to the toy store, and through all of it, you get an original story tied to the Toy Story franchise.

Once you reach the toy store, the world starts to get better, as it is very large, there are a lot of fights, and you get to pilot a mech suit. The action is pretty much nonstop, making it one of the more entertaining worlds in the game.

I also couldn't talk about the Toy Box world without mentioning Woody dropping one of the coldest lines in the series by saying, "My guess is no one's ever loved you before," straight to Xehanort's face. The only lackluster thing about this world was the simple fight at the end, but the rest of the world more than makes up for it.

1 The Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean

I was a fan of the first Pirates of the Caribbean world that popped up in Kingdom Hearts 2, so I was definitely excited to see the franchise make a return in the third game of the mainline series. It absolutely did not disappoint, and ended up being my favorite world in the game.

You meet up with Jack Sparrow once more for the events of At World's End, and are immediately introduced to the game's ship combat, and it is sad that this didn't make an appearance in any other part of the game, because the ship combat was some of the best I have seen.

Exploring this world was one of the best parts of Kingdom Hearts 3. I spent ages visiting every island in the Caribbean to collect all the treasure, and I have no regrets. Everything that you go through in this world culminates in a fight against the Kraken and Davey Jones, and it is exciting.

I would easily replay this world because it is one that captures everything that I love about the Kingdom Hearts series.
