Death, taxes, and video games getting delayed--it seems these are the three constants in 2025, with a number of high-profile video games getting delayed past their initial release dates. Some of these have been delayed far past their initial dates, while others have only been delayed more recently.
To help keep everything organized, we've made a list of every game delayed right now, including those with delays announced weeks, months, or even years ago. Once a game has been released, it will be removed from this list.
Grand Theft Auto VI

We all knew this was coming, if we're really being honest with ourselves. Initially planned to launch later this year, GTA 6 was later pushed back to May 2026 before again being delayed a full six months to November 19, 2026. Rockstar cited a need to add more polish as the reason for the delay.
Soup Pot

Everyone knows soup tastes better when it takes more time to simmer, and Chikon Club's Soup Pot will be doing that--slated for release in August, the game is now coming to Xbox platforms and PC later this year in order to give the developer more time for polishing. You'll be doing "livestreams" of your cooking in the game to make over 100 dishes.
Crimson Desert

First revealed with a gameplay trailer in 2020 and planned for a 2021 launch, the open-world spin-off to Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert, is now arriving in Q1 2026.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Originally planned for a launch this March, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was delayed to an unclear future date back in February. Ubisoft cited wanting to make a remake that still feels fresh while staying true to the spirit of the original version, but it didn't specify how long the delay would be. The series has been largely on ice since Assassin's Creed exploded in popularity over a decade ago, though we did get the excellent The Lost Crown spin-off recently.
Pragmata

A mysterious and Death Stranding-esque game from Capcom, Pragmata has been in the works for years, with very few teasers and little information to help us bide our time until its release. It's now scheduled to launch in 2026.
Replaced

The upcoming sci-fi platformer Replaced was planned to release in 2022, but the game was then pushed into 2023, then 2024, and then 2025. The decision to push the game to 2023 was made by developer Sad Cat Studios along with Coatsink and Thunderful because the studio has developers located in both Belarus and Ukraine. With the ongoing war, the team opted to relocate and had to pause development during this period. The second and third delays appear to be related to game quality as the team continues development.
The Wolf Among Us 2

Previously planned to launch in 2023, Telltale's The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed out of the year. Work began on the project in 2020 at the rebooted Telltale--which is much smaller than the original studio--and the studio said in its announcement that it simply needs more time to deliver something up to players' expectations. No new window or date were announced.
Ark 2 and Ark: Survival Ascended

Previously planned to launch in 2023, Ark 2--the sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved and a Vin Diesel vehicle--will now be coming in 2024. Developer Studio Wildcard announced that the delay was necessary to "deliver the ultimate next-gen dinosaur survival experience." No footage from the game will be shown in 2023, either, following the pre-rendered reveal trailer that included Vin Diesel.
The original game's remade version--Ark: Survival Ascended--was also hit with a delay, getting bumped to October 2023. Studio Wildcard attributed this to struggles with Unreal Engine 5 and did not provide a firm release date.
Cities: Skylines 2 (consoles)

Cities: Skylines 2 is, unlike the original game, coming to consoles close to its PC release. It was supposed to be coming to consoles at the same time, but the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have been delayed into 2024. The development team said it needed more time to "reach the quality targets" it had set for itself on console.
No Rest For The Wicked

The next game from Ori creator Moon Studios, No Rest For The Wicked certainly has high expectations riding on it. Publisher Take-Two seems to be aware of this, as the company opted to delay the game into FY 2025, putting its release date at April 2024 at the earliest.
Prison Architect 2

Previously planned to release in March, Paradox Interactive's Prison Architect 2 was then moved to a May date before receiving another delay--this time shortly before it was set to launch. However, it would then be delayed indefinitely, with the team saying it has identified areas it needs to improve prior to launch.
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion

The post-mortem mayhem will come a little later than anticipated. Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion has been delayed to 2025, with the development team giving a vague "improving game quality" explanation for the move.

Crysis 4

Image from Crysis 3
It has already been over a decade since Crysis 3 released, but it might be even longer than expected before we get another Crysis game. Crytek announced in early 2025 that development of the next Crysis has been put on hold, with the studio suffering significant layoffs as it focuses its attention on Hunt: Showdown 1896. It's unclear if or when the game will resume development.
Bionic Bay

The moody sci-fi platformer Bionic Bay is arriving just a little bit later than planned. In order to give the development team at Mureena and Psychoflow Studio extra time to polish the experience, the game will now launch on April 17, 2025, with a demo available via Steam prior to that date.
Parallel Experiment

The creepy co-op puzzler Parallel Experiment is launching later than planned, as Eleven Puzzles says it opted to delay the game in order to avoid cutting several extra features and puzzles. Because of the delay to June 5, 2025, however, the mobile version will now launch alongside the PC release.
Fable

The Fable franchise has been on ice for quite a while, with unsuccessful and canceled spin-offs being the only new content since Fable 3 well over a decade ago. The franchise reboot Fable was planned to launch in 2025, but it has been delayed to 2026. Details on the reason are scarce, though Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan promises the extra time is worth it.
La Quimera

A game created by a team of former Metro developers at Reburn--the rebranded 4A Games Ukraine--La Quimera was actually reviewed prior to its delay. The reviews were ... not glowing, leading the team to delay the game to an unannounced future date.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Skydance's Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has big expectations, as it will mark the grand return of Uncharted director Amy Hennig. However, the game is not arriving in 2025, with the development team opting to move it to 2026 in order to "add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision." It was later moved from an early 2026 window to further into the year.
Marathon

It's a Marathon, not a sprint. That is more true now than ever, as Bungie has opted to delay its survival-shooter reboot Marathon from its September 2025 date to an unspecified future date. This decision was made following a round of alpha tests, as well as the failure of another Sony live-service shooter, Concord.
Subnautica 2

After previously being planned for at least an early-access release in 2025, Subnautica 2 will now launch in 2026. The delay came with plenty of controversy, as developer Unknown Worlds' leadership team had been fired by Krafton just prior to the announcement.
Trivia Murder Party 3

The party-game specialists at Jackbox Games were planning to launch their latest game, Trivia Murder Party 3, in 2025. However, the studio has opted to delay it to 2026, saying it's being developer with a new engine and will support online matchmaking.
Directive 8020

Previously planned to launch in 2025, the next game from cinematic horror specialist Supermassive Games will now be arriving in the first half of 2026. The studio said it wants to take "a bit more time" in order to make the game the best possible experience for players.
Calamity Angels: Special Delivery

Previously scheduled to arrive in Summer 2025, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery had its date moved in August of that year--really coming down to the wire--to an unannounced date in 2026. No reason was directly given for the delay, but it's still coming to PS5, PS4, and Switch.
Faeland

Usually, a game developer will not directly admit that another game's launch is the reason for a delay, but Faeland studio Talegames had a pretty good reason. Due to the impending launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Faeland will no longer arrive on September 9. No new release date has been announced yet, but it will be coming "soon."
Breakers: Unlock the World (Limit Zero Breakers)

Breakers: Unlock the World is not releasing as planned. It's also no longer called Breakers: Unlock the World. Now titled Limit Zero Breakers, NCSoft's action-RPG will release in Q1 2026.
Time Takers

Another NCSoft game, Time Takers has been delayed to a Q2 2026 release window. The third-person shooter focuses on teamwork and collecting a resource called Time Energy in order to unlock upgrades.

Previously called Project LLL, NCSoft's Cinder City has a new name but won't be arriving as planned. The game will arrive in late Q3 2026. The sci-fi shooter features vehicular combat and takes place in a futuristic Seoul.
Aeterna Lucis

Aeterna Lucis was originally planned to launch in September, but due to Silksong's release-date announcement, it has now been moved out of 2025 entirely. Aeternum Game Studios said it also needed more time to facilitate a release on all platforms simultaneously.
Neon Inferno

The old-school-inspired shooter Neon Inferno was scheduled to arrive in early October 2025, but shortly before its planned launch, developer Zenovia Interactive opted to push the game to November 20. The delay came as the studio dealt with certifications across various platforms, but it also said it would use the time to add more polish.
Terminator 2D: No Fate

Originally scheduled to launch earlier in the fall, Terminator 2D: No Fate was later delayed to November 2025. The reason was specifically because of tariffs resulting in delayed shipments of physical versions, and Reef Entertainment wished to keep the release date the same as the digital release. Another delay later moved it to December 12, 2025.
Cairn

Originally planned for 2025, Cairn will now be arriving in Q1 2026. The development team said it's going ot use the extra time to work on bugs and adding more polish.
Mina the Hollower

Yacht Club Games, best known for Shovel Knight, was prepping a Halloween 2025 release date for its next game, Mina the Hollower. However, the team said it is unable to hit that target and needs to spend more time playtesting, finalizing "design, art, and sound," and "eating cheese," among other things. A new release date has not been shared.
The Sinking City 2

Originally planned for a 2025 launch, The Sinking City 2 will now arrive in 2026. Frogwares cited, among other things, the continued challenges posed by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine in its decision.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire

Path of Exile 2 1.0

Path of Exile 2 has been available in early access for some time now, but the game has not actually "released" into its 1.0 state. That might be a little bit longer than anticipated, as Grinding Gear recently shared that it is will be pushing the launch further into 2026.
Styx: Blades of Greed

Arriving a little later than anticipated, Styx: Blades of Greed will be releasing on February 19, 2026. The goblin simulator stealth game will benefit from "polish" and time to "tweak the bits that need tweaking," according to Nacon and Cyanide. In the meantime, you can always walk around your own house pretending you're a goblin.
Toxic Crusasders

Originally planned to launch in 2025, Toxic Crusaders will now release in early 2026, without a final concrete date set. According to Retroware, the goal to make the game the same experience across all platforms played a big role in the decision, which will also allow for more playtesting and polishing.
