Every New Feature Coming With Pokémon Pokopia's First Expansion

It's been almost five months now since Game Freak and Omega Force launched the hit Ditto-starring social simulation game Pokémon Pokopia for Nintendo Switch 2, and since its release, the game has received several new updates.

The Hoppip line of Pokémon debuted with the More Spores for Hoppip event in March; players participated in Bulbasaur's Jump Rope Contest in late April, and the Mythical Wish Pokémon Jirachi made its sparkling debut in late June and early July's Wish Upon a Jirachi event, to name a few updates.

In a few days, however, Pokémon fans will be able to access the game's first major DLC expansion with the Bubbly Basin launching on Wednesday, August 5th with purchase of Pokopia's $34.99 expansion pass.

Diving Into Pokopia's Underwater World

Throughout Pokémon Pokopia, Ditto can learn new moves and transformations to better traverse and cultivate biomes, such as learning Rock Smash from Hitmonchan and Surf from Lapras.

While Ditto can swim across rivers, ponds, and the ocean surface with Surf and Waterfall, they notably couldn't swim underwater in the base game, with Ditto quickly drowning and teleporting back to the surface if underwater for too long.

This will all change in August, as players will be able to befriend the Mythical Seafaring Pokémon Manaphy with a free software update also releasing on August 5th, with Manaphy teaching Ditto the move Dive, allowing players to create an air bubble for Ditto to freely swim underwater.

Dive will not only allow players to swim underwater and build underwater structures in all prior biomes but will grant players access to a brand-new submerged town biome exclusive to the Bubbly Basin DLC.

Here, players will be able to access several new features and items, including:

• The ability to grow and collect coral
• The ability to grow crops and other plants underwater, including the brand-new watermelon and seaweed
• The ability to build buoyant blocks to construct floating underwater structures
• The ability to power electric lights and machines underwater
• The ability to dive and explore the pitch-black depths of the deep sea
• A new outfit inspired by May from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
• Dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper
• Underwater habitats
• Bubble machines
• Starmie dolls
• Blenders with new drink recipes
• Submarine volcanos
• Several new aquatic-themed blocks and furniture
• Bioluminescent coral
• Treasure chests
• A Sharpedo-themed submarine reminiscent of Team Aqua's Submarine Explorer 1 from Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Purchasing Pokémon Pokopia's Expansion Pass will additionally grant players access to two more future DLC expansions, with the second expansion set to launch in late 2026 and allow players to accessorize and dress up other Pokémon along with the debut of a new town and other features.

Bubbly Basin's New Pokémon Residents

In Pokémon Pokopia, players primarily encounter new Pokémon by creating new habitats for them to appear from, and the same is true in the Bubbly Basin expansion, with players still being able to create patches of grass and other habitats underwater.

This will cause players to meet several new Pokémon, including:

Starting Thursday, August 13th until Friday, August 28th, players will also be able to participate in the new Fetching Scales for Feebas event, allowing players to befriend Feebas and Milotic and collect Prism Scales to grant Feebas' wish.

Players can also bring previously encountered aquatic Pokémon like Magikarp or Piplup to swim underwater in the Bubbly Basin.
