Meccha Chameleon launched with only four maps, and thanks to the community, there are now several hundred maps to choose from when playing the game. However, the creator of Meccha Chameleon has also been working hard on the title.
Thanks to consistent updates, Meccha Chameleon now has seven official maps to play on, and each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses. Some of them have tons of amazing hiding spots, while others miss the mark by just a hair, making them a bit more lackluster, but where do they stand when compared to one another? What is your go-to official map when playing Meccha Chameleon?
7 Backrooms
Too Small, Too Easy
The Backrooms map is one of the original four maps created for Meccha Chameleon, and it is also the least fun to play on. This is mainly due to its size and the lack of items on the map.
With the map being so small, it's easy for the hunter to track people down. This would be a different story if there were plenty of places to hide, but there aren't.
The map feels quite empty aside from a few objects placed here and there, and there is nothing that you can really paint yourself into to make it difficult to be found. It definitely needs more items, and it definitely needs to be bigger.
6 Sugar Land
Weird Angles
The number one map that bothers me in Meccha Chameleon is Sugar Land. This vibrant land of sweets seems like it would be fun to play on at first, but it ultimately makes being a chameleon far too difficult.
There are limited locations that make good hiding spots on this map, and the ones that are good are almost too unfair for the hunters. The main reason this map is frustrating to play on is the odd angles.
This has been slightly fixed thanks to an update to the poses, allowing chameleons to adopt a slanted pose, but even still, it is difficult to line yourself up with anything, and more difficult to paint yourself in.
5 Penguin Hotel
Smaller Than the Mansion
The Penguin Hotel is a fun map that has some solid hiding spaces, but it is a lesser version of the Hide-and-Seek Mansion. The building is very similar, but it offers fewer solid hiding spots, and it is far easier to be found.
It would be nice to see this map receive a few changes. For starters, getting more rooms would be a plus. On top of that, it would be nice to see more decorations that aren't penguins, as these are not easy to hide around thanks to the odd angles.
Finally, it would be nice to see some of the balloons removed. They don't do much for the map, and it is rather awkward to hide around them.
4 Indoor Country
I'm a Cow
The Indoor Country map is one of the go-to maps that I heavily enjoy. It's a cutesy indoor farm with plenty of horse statues, cow cutouts, clouds, barns, and more to hide around.
If you are creative, you can easily find a place to hide on this map, and the boundaries are a bit relaxed, so you can tuck yourself into some smaller areas for fun.
The main downside to the Indoor Country map is that it is a bit small, and so it would be nice to see it get a bit of an expansion so that there are even more places to hide.

Try hiding or seeking in these places.
3 Osaka
Small and Cluttered
It is just like a city to feel cluttered, but that isn't a bad thing when it comes to the Osaka map. Instead, clutter is great, because it helps the chameleons hide.
Osaka is one of the smallest maps available for Mecha Chameleon, but it is also one of the best. Instead of small being an issue like it is in the Backrooms map, it allows the chameleons to quickly hide and have plenty of time to paint.
The reason the small size of this map is so nice is because of how cluttered it is. There are many items you can use to hide, and plenty of nooks and crannies to shove yourself into. Every time I play this map I find a new place to hide, and it is great.
2 Sewer
Graffiti
The Sewer map is one of the best maps that the creator of Meccha Chameleon has created. It has a lot of interesting items in it, and the graffiti on the walls makes for some unique hiding spots.
Another great positive about this map is that it isn't too small. It offers a good size, allowing the chameleons to easily find a hiding spot and start painting within the time limit.
This map also isn't too big for the hunter to explore. Some maps make things difficult because the size ultimately means you can't hear whistles, but this map is about the perfect size.
1 Hide-and-Seek Mansion
The Best Experience
The map that is often shown off the most for Meccha Chameleon is the Hide-and-Seek Mansion, and there is a good reason for that. Among all the official maps, it is by far the most engaging, as it has plenty of items to interact with.
You can hide in paintings, various kitchen items, the laundry, the bathroom, and so much more. At first, this map feels like a lot, and that's because it is, but once you get to know the layout, you realize how easy it is to find a spot to hide.
While the map might be a slight bit big, the size is grand enough that you can perform some impressive maneuvers. I've played games where I slipped past the hunter and switched hiding spots midway through, and it was a blast.
